I am wondering whether he had a years vacation unused and decided that, one month before he resubscribed, he would use it all up and then have another years worth of vacation as soon as ths first lot expires.

It's been 36 days since the start of the April 2009 Sprint Split IV (started April 16). I am fairly certain Atri's vacation flag was up the day (or day after) that tournament started.

I fear a rating collapse isn't going to make him see sense, he'll just start more games to keep his total GIP where it is.

What a magnificent game was 6319582! One to make the player of the white pieces particularly proud! Of course you could argue that Qh5 as a valiant last attempt was mandatory before resignation but the strength of the black position was undeniable. Bravo!

His clan brothers must also be proud of the stiff resolve that he demonstrated in game 6213977 when despite falling into a deep opening trap he soldiered on against all expectations and actually completed his 4th move. Outstanding!

It can't be too long. He's had it up since May 1 continuously and it was up some before that (he let it slip for a day on May 1).

What turns my stomach is that he must have jettisoned those sparkling games the other day just to make room for more tournament games that he won't be playing.
