This would seem to be true. i.e. The canon of Scripture is the collection of books that are considered the authoritative word of God. The word canon comes from the Greek word kanon, meaning reed or measurement, and implies a standard of quality.

    Pretty interesting.

the russians lost 25 million in world war 2.

so you crying lefties scream about 7 who died in a war by accident.

    really ?

what if the Germans had killed 8 Russians on the way to Moscow ?

would you have not continued the war against the Germans ?

    of course not.

death is part of war, military and civilian. Napoleon taught us that !

Hey skippy, there is a bit more to this situation than 7 dead food workers. There is also the matter of the state of Israel deliberately blocking food and medical supplies donated by people around the world in route to starving children and their mothers who had nothing to do with this war, and only want to survive. Please explain to us how starving thousands of these kids and their mothers to death is going to make Israel more secure or will help in getting the remaining Israeli hostages released.

Your willingness to cherry pick the facts is duly noted.

I often wonder that myself, but we have a thing in America called "rich man's justice." Wealthy people can afford to hire lawyers that exploit the system by filing endless motions, slowing the legal process to a crawl, when finally convicted they're normally sentenced at the extreme low end of sentencing guidelines, normally servicing time in minimum security prisons, complete with very little violent crime, tennis courts, well stocked libraries, few or no fences, and lavish off site work details, often involving little more than clerical work at wealthy estates.

The same holds true in other areas. Back in the 1960's the Federal Government had plans for a stretch of interstate 90 to go through a wealthy community east of Seattle called Mercer Island. The citizens tied this project up in court for over 30 years, wedging concessions from the government such as tunneling under rather than paving over their land (the rich didn't want to noise to affect property values) lavish landscaping, jogging and bike paths, antennas built into the concrete so drivers and passengers would not have their cell phone communication and internet interrupted. After many years, this is still referred to as Interstate 90's "golden mile."

This is NOT how the framers of our Constitution envisioned things I'm sure, but this is where we are today. 😕

I saw one today, up close enough that I could read it if I had wanted to. I didn't, of course. In a checkout line. Query....Do y'all READ tattoos, do you do it sort of covertly, like maybe when they are distracted? Is it considered an invasion of privacy, or is it welcomed by the tattooee? And why would you read one? Do you put it in the same category as a bumper sticker?
Dear Joe - Thank You for your improved composition skill in these forums. I know I've been hard on you about that in the past, but this is a marked improvement. Still room left for progress, but at least I can understand you now.

    Well, done. 🙂

P.S. I think tattoos are a silly waste of money, but then I'm an older guy. When I was young the only people who had them were enlisted sailors and low-class call girls.

In a towering display of political strength, President Joe Biden declared that he would "defend Easter with all his power" if re-elected.

Biden vowed that Trans Visibility Day in 2025 would fall on MARCH 31st, so that it did not conflict with the Christian holiday.

Easter in 2025 will be celebrated on April 20th.

Conservatives around the country hailed th ...[text shortened]... omentous victory, while Liberals, reportedly, could not get up from the floor from laughing so hard.
It's a general election year. Character trashing and personal attacks carry more weight than policy decisions and problem solving.

Trump Allies Plan to Reinterpret Civil Rights Laws to Protect White People: Report

by Nikki McCann Ramirez, writing for Rolling Stone magazine / April 1, 2024

Allies of Donald Trump and powerful conservative organizations are preparing to laun ...[text shortened]... back in the bottle. Just how much of America will we see destroyed by this man in his second term?
I blame Donald J Trump for fanning the flames of racial hatred in this country - that said however, I'm forced to point out the fact that the white man (and ONLY the white man) is the face of racism in America. It's as if all other races are totally innocent of racial bigotry or of engaging in even minor racist behavior. I will never support Donald Trump or his ilk, but if the left wing wants white men to vote for them, Democrats need to stop portraying white men as "the enemy," and start admitting racism is not strictly a white male problem.

The last one came from an era when a President sired 5 children by 3 different women in N.Y. as well as jumping into bed with Porn stars and playmates, then paying them hush $$ to avoid losing an election, but is totally acceptable now - Do you want me to go on? 😏

Have you considered the fact that if Donald Trump was 1/2 as rich as he claims he wouldn't need to go begging cap in hand to the public for the funds to pay his lawyers or his campaign? Trump bragged many times he was "self-financed" and didn't need contributions.

Hey, Einstein - - If your fearless leader is that rich, then why does he need your money? 😳

In 1876, Charles Russell, founder of the Jehovah's Witnesses, predicted that Christ would return in 1914. Since that prophecy failed, the society has predicted at least seven other dates when Armageddon would occur.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses also quietly abandoned a prediction that people alive in 1914 would live to see Christ’s kingdom on Earth--a major doctrine tha ...[text shortened]... lent urgency to the sect’s door-to-door warnings that a bloody end of the world is imminent.

Before we get too hard on Mr. Russell, we might consider that people have been predicting the end of the world for a very long time, in fact Jesus specifically cautioned his disciples against predicting this. Mr. Russell was a bit foolish here, but so were many others.

Matthew 24:3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” They said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

Matthew 24:36 No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Mchill, it is how people perceive that counts.

phranny came in here to say the economy is wonderful, but again, it is how people perceive it.

And there are several cities on the west coast where thefts have closed many stores.
that gets a lot of attention.

That's right it does get a lot of attention. What never seem to get attention though are the dozens of cities where crime rates have dropped - but I guess we're not supposed to talk about that.
