@AverageJoe1 saidConstruction is currently not happening.
No, it is not. It is a factory that they are not building. That does not mean that it won't get built. If ICE comes to my office and grabs some illegal aliens working there, I will not close my office. This is America. I would make a few phone calls, restructure a bit, maybe increase salaries to cover the staff problems, and prevail. Be successful.
Don't be a ...[text shortened]... uilt by honest people....and make themselves more successful. (y'all like to say 'rich',,whatever) 🙂
Also, no charges have been filed. You keep writing "illegal" "illegal" "Illegal" but no charges have been filed.
No charges.
"For now, the $4.3 billion Hyundai–LG project remains frozen.... Federal officials insist their probe targeted “unlawful employment practices and other serious federal crimes.” No charges have been announced against the companies.

@no1marauder saidNo.
From March 2020 to May 2021, the government loaned out $790 billion to business under the PPP program. Of that, $757 billion was subsequently forgiven.https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ppp-loan-forgiveness-student-loan-relief-cost-comparison/
Have you ever railed against these "losers" or complained about that huge sum not going back to government coffers?
Can you possibly look at my scenario about $10k loaned by the fed govt to a person, who having used/spent the money, doesn’t pay it back? Easy premise.
It might be easier if you pretend this is just a general question on a bar exam. Or maybe an economics exam. Not one of those multiple choices they’re using these days, but rather an Essay exam like you might have taken in the old days.
What’s the problem?
@wildgrass saidEasy man. This is average Joe. My OP does not mention an arrest or charges. So here we are. Could you not respond directly to what the OP says. And just for the record I did use the word illegal, because that is the word that was used in the news report. They were here illegally. You and I know that because They received these funny permits these funny waivers or whatever all these things are that they hand out at the border. That tells me that they were illegally here. So we both can now agree that they are illegal. So why be so obstinate about using the word illegal. You’re getting as bad as Marauder. You are both all over the place and cannot understand the simplicity of answering an exact issue.

@AverageJoe1 saidSo you have no objections to the government forgiving debt owed to it and no concern over the cost of such forgiveness.
No.

Got it.
No one denies forgiveness of debt causes a loss of future revenue (though far less than the debt's face value) but your hypocrisy is crystal clear. It's obvious you're driven by petty hate not any consistent philosophy.
@no1marauder saidYour response to my question would get you a big read X from a bar examiner. You do not even identify the issue, which is tantamount to a proper bar answer.

@AverageJoe1 saidApparently, you don't.

He doesn't have to do your reading comprehension for you.
We can't explain everything to your third-grade brain.

@Suzianne saidDo you? The govt loaned our protagonist $10K, he did not pay it back. I asked Marauder to explain the nature of the govt being 'out' $10K , having never had it paid back by the scammer. He could answer it in one sentence, like you would, like I would, but curiously he does not.

So, this issue has evolved to something else, it WAS about loan facts. The issue now, is, Why will Marauder not answer the question????
@AverageJoe1 saidNo, it's still about facts, just not your "facts".

The government spends more studying boll weevils than on one person's student loan.

You've dodged mine.
Why are you so outraged over the possibility that the sons and daughters of working class and middle class parents struggling with their loan payments might get some relief while completely unconcerned that businesses actually did get $757 billion in debt to the government wiped out?
@no1marauder saidNot the issue. The issue is that you said a while back that there was really never any money lost. I am not about to dig all that up. You know it and I know it and that is all that matters. Susie does not have to know that.

You might recall, you never said that there was a loss to the treasury when the money was never paid back, I kept saying, there was a loss to the treasury, and you kept on with gobbledygook. Just like the ones you just write here. You actually go so far for some unbelievable reason to mention future revenue. What in the hell ….future revenue?
So if you are watching, you will know that the phrase future revenue has never been discussed, and of course, it would be totally irrelevant to this simple question that marauder never has to this moment answered. He thinks his writing about future revenue is an answer. He needs to say that because the money was not paid back, that the government lost $10,000. But he will not say that. Maybe you will say that?
@no1marauder saidYou compare business enterprises, that make money, that hire people, that produce things, that add to our economy,… You compare that to someone who is just given free money.

“ if we give bail out money to corporations so that they can restructure and get bigger and make more money and hire more people, then why can we not bail out people who will not pay their loans?”
You can thank me now for putting what you’re saying in plain English
@AverageJoe1 saidOne obvious thing here: you TOTALLY disregard the added value of a citizen who just got a Phd with lots of help, some from the government and such.

So he gets his student loans forgiven but you totally ignore a high competent person doing fundamental work.
BESIDES all the assemblers, technicians and so forth not brilliant like our Phd but are still adding greatly to our economy and that is ALWAYS a good thing.
@sonhouse saidI dont ignore anything. The things you wrtie here have nothing to do with the $10k that I ahve asked Marauder about.

Maybe another thread on that? TYhe value of education, etc. A good topic, but we all know that. Seems you want us to PAY for it, gets muddddled

Just the government shutting down construction of a factory, nothing illegal?
