@AverageJoe1 saidWhen they say 'forgiveness' the agency is paying off the debt, the borrower is not left out in the cold.
I love the way that you and Marauder say ‘forgiven’ in all of your texting. You say the government ‘forgives’ a loan. In fact, the government is telling the borrower of the money that they loaned to them that they do not have to pay the money back. When you say the word ‘forgiving’, Sue and everybody cannot understand why you make a differentiation. Neither can I. Nothing new, doublespeak is your stock and trade.
@sonhouse saidOh. So, who is the agency? Couldn't get any info out of Marauder. Help me out here. And, are you saying this agency paid (in my example) the $10,000 to the government, in payment of the debt due from the borrower to the government?
When they say 'forgiveness' the agency is paying off the debt, the borrower is not left out in the cold.
@AverageJoe1 saidYes, that's what "forgiving a loan" means. Though in the case of the proposal that was never adopted that you're still screaming about, it was only a partial forgiveness of $10,000 to $20,000 unlike the total forgiveness of PPP loans.

@no1marauder saidYou use the word forgiving, without, as I asked, telling us,,,#1, why you say the word 'forgiving' 3 times here, and #2, why you do not tell us what an 'agency' is. Who is the agency, and does the agency give the $10k that was borrowed back to the government, in satisfaction of the loan to the loser college borrower?

Does the govt get back the $10k that it loaned out? My 12 year old wants to know.
I love your first sentence...follow me here....it says "Yes, that is what forgiving a loan means'" WHAT is what forgiving a loan means.??? Where does 'what forgiving a loan means' appear in this thread? To what are you referrijng??
Gotta tell you, my coffee buddies, even the 2 libs, just wince at your posts. You say nothing. Nothing. Did the govt get their loaned money back??
Suzianne, c'mon, break away from the crowd. What is he saying? Should the govt not get back the $10k they loaned? Who is the agency? Did Marauder's not-explanation make sense to you?
Can a lender of money pay itself back, to replenish the money that was loaned out? It the lender just eats it, is that the same as paying the loan back to itself?
@AverageJoe1 saidGetting a work visa takes a long time and in Trumps america it is taking even longer. By most accounts, the arrested Koreans were skilled workers who were training a US workforce to build and maintain the factory. If a company wants to build a factory in the USA, what this tells them is that it will take a really, really long time to work through the bureaucratic tape needed to do it, and that you will be hassled by the federal government if you try to speed up the process.
Mott says they were expelled from the country. I went to the Walker Cup and was away from the news for a week. So what IS the status?
Frankly, it seems like it sends a terrible message to companies who were considering building in the USA.
@wildgrass saidYou are getting into the weeds here. You liberals always dance around people who illegally came into this country. I have a problem talking past that. Get them out of here, and have factory owners go out and find legal people, brown skin or white skin, to come work for them. If they are not legally here or have legal right to Work, then that is tough. If you are upset how long it takes, remember that it takes long to be sure we are vetting these people properly. Whew.

@AverageJoe1 saidHyundai wanted to build a factory. They got the people they knew could do the job. Instead of a raid that caused the construction to stop, other measures could have been implemented here. The USA grants 1,000,000 work visas every year.

Instead they shut down construction.
@wildgrass saidOK, fair enough. Life ain’t perfect. But note that all of this has just begun since we got rid of Biden, ICE had to come down pretty hard to get the attention of crooked employers and the attention of immigrants who don’t come in here like previous immigrants used to. And I use the word immigrant lighty, they are invaders. Please be fair, understand my discontent with invaders, remembering that you are a person that is all in favor of people like Mamdani. You like Mamdani, I hate invaders. A nice level field to start on.

@AverageJoe1 saidJesus, you're too goddamm stupid or drunk to engage with. I was responding to YOUR post.

The US government took over the entire student loan program during the Obama years; there is no third party agency that is owed anything.
The rest of your raving idiocy is not worth responding to; we get you have a petty hatred for those who, unlike yourself, had the drive and ambition to get a decent education even if they came from modest financial circumstances. That's all this is; you've already made clear you have no problem with the government forgiving (yes that's the proper term though you are too ignorant to know it) debt.
@no1marauder saidI am not saying that that isn’t a proper term amongst all of you liberals talking about the government. My point is that when a lender lends money to someone, if that someone does not pay it back, then that lender is out the amount of money.

Of course, you have to agree with me on that basic principle. Having said that, here we have the government who loaned the money. Same scenario. The money was never paid back to them. Are they out $10,000 or not.?
No need for the angst. And why do you and ShV get to use profanity on RHP? Some of us for doing less have been kicked off..
@AverageJoe1 saidStop lying.
Here is Mott....he is on it, says they were expelled. I have been out of the loop. But didnt one of you say that they were not illegal,,,,,,or that they were allowed to work, when they clearly were not? I hope they fired the employer for promoting these illegal people. The differences of a lot of posts here is that we love our country, the other 80 % simply do not. Prob because Trump DOES.

But stop pretending this is your main objection when you admit you have no problem with the government forgiving $757 billion in PPP loans.
@no1marauder saidWrong out of the gate. I have never used the word forgiving a post. You have. I don’t even know what it means. Suzanne, can you jump in here between the two of us and tell us what forgiveness means …in the lending world that is …I don’t mean like when you are forgiving the slime cretin brother on the train that killed the girl. We can of course, stipulate that if the lender, being the government here, says that you simply do not have to pay the loan anymore, you can call it forgiving if you want to. But since that is off of the issue, we don’t care what you call it. If the government tells them that, the government is giving up a $10,000 Amount due to the government which will never be given to the government. I have asked marauder 50 times what is the nature of that $10,000 which was not paid.
