Liz Magill, U. Penn's president, and board chair resign as antisemitism testimony draws backlash

@JJ-Adams
Hamas doesn't just use the word infinata or whatever as calling for genocide, they call for genocide by saying we are going to kill ALL jews, they don't tag it onto one word, they used whole sentences to say what they mean and that is right in their charter. My family and I lived in Jerusalem for three years working at Intel as a contractor from a company called Varian at the time they had a division making ion implanters and were massive in that market, which they lost but that is another story, at that time ion implanters were one of the fundamental steps to make semiconductor chips, not so much now because we used 200,000 volt power supplies to accelerate ions down a vacuum chamber to bury the big three, Arsenic, Boron or Phosphorus which when ionized and accelerated would bury those elements a micron or more deep to make a semiconducting layer and so forth, now the chips are measured in nanometers and you don't need thousands of volts of acceleration to make those chips so the entire field of ion implanters has been more or less abandoned but ATT it was important but we saw up close and personal the result of those dudes calling for the death of all jews and they didn't just call it one word, they spelled it out quite clearly so there was no misunderstanding.
@rajk999 saidHair splitting distinctions over word choice should not be a reason for punishing students at universities esp. when it is soooooooooooooooo obvious those young people using it are certainly not calling for the genocide of Jews.
Therefore 'intifada' is an inflamatory word. There are a whole bunch of other English words that can be used without giving people the idea you are referring to genocide.
Here's another one that is sure to go

Interesting that you, who regularly criticizes Israel's oppression of the Palestinians, should so eagerly join in this lynch mob of those who didn't rise to Stefanik's bait and just say they any student who marches in a pro-Palestinian demonstration should face disciplinary sanctions.
Be careful, Earl, your employer might read your posts here and decide you should be out of a job for not adequately supporting Israel and thus being "antisemitic".

That does not mean that I turn my back or change my principles just because the victim here is Israel.
Hope my consistency makes some sense to you

The protesters Stefanik wants punished are saying the same things you do as regards Israel's oppression of the Palestinians yet you think university presidents should get fired if they decline to categorically threaten them with disciplinary actions up to possible expulsion. To say your positions are self-contradictory is an understatement.

"But the First Amendment does not make exceptions for hateful speech. It does not prohibit terrorism apologia. It does not forbid implicitly genocidal statements. A university that wishes to model its policies after the U.S. Constitution—an admirable course of action—should allow students and faculty members to make odious statements. The correct response to this speech is for others to criticize it.
If the speech in question is individually targeted, it may lose such protection. Scribbling hateful messages on Jewish students' dormitory room doors, for example, would constitute targeted harassment under the universities' policies. Anti-Israel protests and demonstrations don't count."

OK it doesn't mean genocide.
They sure do manage to kill a lot of people when they do it though, don't they?
Intifada just means uprising
