This has nothing to do with election fraud. Conservatives know that nonwhites, for various reasons including systemic racism, have a harder time obtaining ID, especially for legal immigrants. They also know nonwhites vote against them.

The Democrats are you are completely wrong when they believe that any idea to prevent election fraud is the end of democracy (as you said in your initial post). Election fraud is a real problem and methods that decrease its likelihood are actually essential if you want to have a legitimate voting system.
The motive for conservatives clearly has nothing to do with election fraud, given how they support Trump even after being recorded committing election fraud; Trump's own officials even said this most recent election was the "most secure in history".
Actions speak louder than words. And conservative actions are all about voter suppression.
