Chattel slaves don't get to vote on whether they will be enslaved or not.
Obviously slave owners thought it was worth the cost of forcing other folks to work for their economic benefit rather than "doing it themselves" just like capitalists do. Of course, both relied on the State backing up that force.

Come to think of it, slavery has been a great boon to the American Black man evolutionarily, too. From the Island of Goree to the point of debarkation in the New World, slaves were not fed. It is estimated that a quarter did not survive the voyage. Those were the weaklings, of course, whose weakness dropped out of the gene pool. Those who survived were the hardiest and passed on their genes; a considerable improvement of the genetic base.
Moreover, slave girls got to become concubines of their plantation owners, thereby fulfilling OT prophecies.
So slavery was a total win-win for the American Black man and woman, genetically, spiritually, and, er, whatever.
At last, a jobs-training program the Radical Right can fully support. Let's bring it back, federally mandate it, no pussy-footing around with state's rights this time, eh?

Their is no analogous relationship between the brutality of slavery and being asked to pay a society a reasonable fee for the infrastructure and services that it provides in order for you to live a life and earn a living. If you do not want to pay you are free to remove yourself from that infrastructure and those services as some already do.

It did happen but it was nowhere near the scope portrayed on tv and films. If you want to group all the maltreatment of slaves, you're going to lose when we group all maltreatment by goobermint.
