I am sure partisan bias has a strong role in his blind faith in face masks. sh76's title to this thread pretty much says it all, mask mandates are basically useless.
I suppose masks might be good for people that spit when they talk. You know, "say it, don't spray it". That is all they are good for though. They do not prevent vapor droplets from getting through. I'll bet even the N95 masks spring leaks from the pressure of a sneeze. The greater the filtering ability, the greater the pressure within the mask.
Smoke is a good way to see the leaks. It is a cheap and easy testing method. Where are the studies with smoke? Don't they cost enough? All you need is volunteer smokers. This whole thing is a joke.
