Crime and accident scenes are chaotic. Things happen fast, people are running around, and getting conflicting reports from people at the scene happens all the time. I'm content to accept that there are aspects of the incident in question that we will likely never have nailed down with certainty. It's a common thing in any kind of situation like this.
