@no1marauder saidYou mention NY rules with a straight face? Their mayor is a communist. Why don’t you set that aside for future , if they do in fact, take over the world
"Why should anyone be required to make two trips to a government office with a birth certificate when they move just to vote?
Answer that. Explain how it adds anything to voting security."
In NY now, "The online registration portal or the voter registration form can be used to change a name or address." https://elections.ny.gov/voter-registration-process
Whatever it takes for voter security, and thanks so much to marauder for using the phrase, voter security, which he never has, it is
Imperative that our country have strict rules for proof of citizenship, I don’t care how much trouble it is for such citizen to be able to prove himself. Before we relax the rules for a weaker persons, we need to change the rules, so the weaker person shall be able to get himself registered. Common Sense!!!! the bane of liberals existence!
Jesus marauder what is your endgame here? Communism/socialism I suspect. Communist and socialist would hate somebody like me..
You are too late for me… I have all of my stuff locked up!!!!!
@Cliff-Mashburn saidNot what the story said. In California jury duty is pulled from voter registration AND DMV records. The latter includes driver licenses and identification cards. In California it’s possible to get the latter if you are not a US citizen but legally in the country. You have to get the information from reputable sources.
But it's not being followed, recent news report was that over 400,000 people in California alone were called for jury duty from voter registration lists but but they weren't allowed to serve because it turned out they weren't citizens.
@AverageJoe1 saidWhy are you so against it being easier for ALL citizens to be registered to vote?
“What is wrong with this new bill is that it makes it severely harder to register to vote by creating barriers. For example, if your What is wrong with this new bill is that it makes it severely harder to register to vote by creating barrier”
Istcyr, please don’t be like the losers on this forum that never really say anything. Yes, It is hard to go to the grocery st ...[text shortened]... not allow normal registration l, for voting for leaders, who run the greatest country in the world??
@no1marauder saidShowing birth cert.
You're lying again. You support the Trump position that birthright citizenship is not required by the Constitution despite the clear language of the 14th Amendment.
And what none of you dunces seem to understand is that IF the SCOTUS validates that position, a birth certificate would no longer be an adequate proof of citizenship. So as I already stated, this administr ...[text shortened]... would make that document useless as proof of citizenship.
That's pretty strange, don't you think?
Make sense here. Can you make sense for a moment. Looking at the end result, someone has to prove who they are at a voting booth. Which would also necessitate their proving that they are citizens of this country., be it with a photo or whatever.
Can we agree on that, this is getting laborious. I stated this because I think we do agree on that am I correct?
Then I have the big question
@Rajk999 saidIf you want to change how elections are held in the US, propose a constitutional amendment. Otherwise states control elections.
So the law is not being followed. Miniscule is a matter of opinion. Something like voting is a critical matter that should not be left up to state law. That should be federal law and the same across the board for all states. Nobody conducts business without proper ID. Apparently only in the US ...
Apart from AvJoe there are credible reports from reputable sources that h ...[text shortened]... of citizenship with a photo ID. If that creates 'barriers', then it should be enforced regardless.
Proper I’d is required to vote. I show it every time Invote. But that’s not what we were discussing. Please stay on topic. Otherwise we will assume you’re going in another direction because you can’t defend your stance.
@AverageJoe1 saidThe ones wanting to change the rules are right wingers. And they've dismally failed to show why any of these pain in the ass requirements are necessary in States that don't already have them.

But I see you are too stupid to discuss the issue rationally. so I'll stop wasting my time since all I get in response are idiotic rants like the post above.
@mike69 saidYou need to read the bill. It’s not what you are saying. In any case it is unconstitutional since states control elections.
You are asked if you would like to update your voter registration information. You still have to legally prove you are the person listed. When I vote they ask me for proof I am who I say I am by predetermined items of proof. Nice to see you don’t want the fairest possible elections as possible by these silly comments.
@lstcyr saidI am for all citizens to vote. Citizens.

These discussions are about a person proving himself to be a citizen when he walks up to a volunteer housewife or restaurant chef , accepting ballots at a voting precinct. They are requesting such proof , you see. Fair enough? Voting For the leader of the free world? To vote for that?
So , that’s all. You should watch the news the Senate is taking that up right now no sense writing all of us about it. Except maybe you might want to get marauder’s point of view.
@no1marauder saidI won’t waste your time. Other fish being fried elsewhere.

@AverageJoe1 saidTry watching the news about the bill somewhere less propaganda oriented. Then we can discuss what’s actually in the bill and how it affects citizens of the US.

@lstcyr saidThe only change as you suggest, and they may need to be changed, is because of the nature of our society, as it has transpired over the years. We have a lot of illegal people, we have other countries that have sent throngs Muslims etc) of people here to infiltrate our society and take over our country. That sounds like one of those conspiracy theories, but worth thinking about.

Surviving needs to be tightened up people like marauder think voting should be easier. Why don’t you pick a side?
@AverageJoe1 saidA remedial course in US History would help. This immigration issue is not new. This hatred of illegal people and Muslims used to be hatred of the Irish, the Italians, Asians and the Jews. In fact it’s only been in my lifetime that the hatred of Catholics has quieted down. Read about JFK’s run for the Presidency to see how Republicans used Catholic hatred against him. You are just the next wave in the hatred of the other. Think about it.

@lstcyr saidSo you would be fine with states going one way or another to whatever degree on confirming someone is a citizen even if we knew it was not safe or accurate, just poor leadership? What is a citizen?

@mike69 saidWell, we’ve been okay with it for 250 years and there is no evidence that indicates that there has been ANY more than a minuscule amount of non-citizens voting. Even that amount is based upon the number of people actually caught and prosecuted for the crime. Why would you try to fix something that isn’t happening?

@lstcyr saidBut society is different now. Illegal people and organizations making it difficult, just look at advance of socialism, the racism of Mamdani and wife. It DOES need fixing.

Y’all keep mentioning the Bill. That is all well and good, but this thread is about one thing. Should citizens prove their citizenship to vote. This thread is not saying anything about the bill itself. Why do libs do this.
Marauder on one post continues to rant on about birthright citizenship. That is not what this thread is about.
Thankyou.
