I dont think Trump's military is any better than Bush or Carter. A lot depends on the tone of the presidency. Trump sets a completely different tone. He has shown he cares nothing for diplomacy and talk. He is a gungho fix it, kill first, talk after, kind of person. Problems that have plagued the world because of lame politicians, diplomats, the UN and other useless organizations are going to get solved. Like the drug runners in the Caribbean. Releasing a few political prisoners hardly affects that regime's ability to govern. They are still insisting Maduro is the rightful President and there doesn't seem to be any evidence they have substantially changed any domestic policies except regarding oil going to the US. The People there are just as screwed and Trump belittled the opposition leader - apparently because she got the Nobel Peace Prize he wanted.
I've never seen an oil embargo topple any government and I doubt I ever will.
