@AverageJoe1 saidThis country is a democratic republic. The persons we put in temporary positions of power are answerable to the People. If they constantly keep the voters in the dark that becomes an impossible task.
Truman kept us in the dark for a couple of years. What in the hell.....suzy said she thinks that we all need to know EVERYTHING that is transpiring all the time with the administration.
So, this poses a question, does it not, MB. Should Trump not ever act in any way which keeps us 'in the dark'? Everyone??
I will answer it for all of you. He certainl ...[text shortened]... with Trump keeping his stuff close to the vest. I know, difficult to agree when you hate his guts.
Just declaring we have "enemies" doesn't change that equation.
And what President would ever think of announcing the start of a war with an 8 minute video on social media at 2:30.am.?
@no1marauder saidYou make my day.

In a Democratic republic, leaders are accoountable– but they're not obligated to reveal military operations in real time. Temporary secrecy is standard practice.
You write about it as if it is evidence of wrongdoing. You will recall that we did not announce D-Day in advance. Operational secrecy protects missions and troops. Get real marauder.
There's a difference between unlawful secrecy and operational secrecy. Imagine his telling Suzianne that he plans to set up bases in Taiwan next week. Tell us.....should he do that? Can you ANSWER that, .....should he keep that 'in the dark' or tell The PEOPLE.
There's nothing unlawful about Trump protecting our national security without loose lips. Would D Day have been a success if Suzianne had put her new info on the Forum??? You and other of the extreme left would take it and run with it.....think of the REASONS!!!!!
"ohhh, people will die... It is not our war....Hitler will never come here....we can talk appeasement with him if he sets his sites on the USA'.....We can't afford it, we need to use that money to distribute to everyone....
Oh, and we have enemies,,,,,,we don't have to 'declare it.
@no1marauder saidAnd this......Could you be specific and explain in plain english what you mean when you say a president, with the the daily pressure of strategies and 'Need to Know" and "Eyes Only", is answerable to the People????

@AverageJoe1 saidOperational secrecy applies when we're at war.

The Congress, not the President, decides whether the nation goes to war.
You seem to be unaware of this.

If he's planning unconstitutional and/or illegal things (which he does constantly), we should know.
@no1marauder saidOne of you said this Iran thing IS a war. 🤔You maybe?? And we were not ‘at war’ with Japan when Truman lit up a secret cigar while the Enola Gay was enroute to waste Hiroshima.

Shall I continue?
Why don’t you face facts and make it easy on yourself. You are on the wrong side and have no idea how the Trump strategy works, which seems to be working pretty good.

@no1marauder saidYou probably should separate your political opnion from legal reality. The Constitution, for example? As you like to say, where is it in the constitution that the president is required to publicly disclose planned military actions??

The constitution does not require oversight in any way, as far as I know. Even your so-great president Obama did military operations without telling 'the People' beforehand! And, he did not tell us he was sending $1.5B in the middle of the night to Iran, of all places. Would you have said something if Trump had done that?? Dam right you would have.
And illegal????? just because it was a secret does not make it illegal. Does the constitution say it was illegal? What Article? Who said that? ohhhh, YOU said that. But you will NOT say that breaching our border is illegal. Your posts are rife with hypocrisy.
Unconstitutional you say? Same answer. Where?
@AverageJoe1 saidThe Constitution specifically gives to Congress the power to declare war in Article I, Section 8.

Nowhere does it grant the President the power to start a war on his own authority.
This is something you might learn when you're old enough for a 10th grade Civics class.

@no1marauder saidUS Constitution Art 1 Sec 8 .. War Powers Resolution (1973): This law requires the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing troops to hostilities and limits the engagement to 60 days without a formal declaration or authorization from Congress.

He has to do it today. The reason for this 48 delay in committing troops, and actually informing Congress is that provision is made for traitors in Congress. The US Congress has traitors, specifically 4 Muslim women, who cannot be trusted. . There may be more, who would enjoy seeing America fall. If COngress knows about the intended war, then enemies of the US will be alerted by these traitors.
@Mott-The-Hoople saidSame thing to the Framers.

In the British Empire, the king could declare/start a war without the approval of Parliament. The Constitution was written to specifically deny that power to our chief executive i.e. the President and lodge it in our parliament i.e. Congress.
@Rajk999 saidYup and the population of Iran is 90 million. So yeah 50 odd leaders should do the trick!
What a f..king dunce. You really are an idiot? Do you even read what is going on? Who said it is ONE LEADER killed or the HEAD. Hey, learn to read and do your research :

As to the point I have made, and you will not acknowledge, this is a military operation that was ordered by the president. There’s no constitutional bar from him doing that. As a matter of fact, it was done with Korea, Libya, Vietnam, and Iraq, as you will know. The presidents just jumped on it. End of discussion.
Next, the president can legally use force without war declaration. Just reading between the lines of the constitution shows that it is quite acceptable.
When there is a declaration of War, we can revisit the issue with new facts. And I might pull out that I have mentioned on several posts on this thread that fax changed, which causes a president changed their mind, and a lot of liberals went ballistic. You say that he lied because he changed his mind.
Do you think that when the president of United States with all of these balls balancing in the air is lying when he changes his mind?. Your friends do
@AverageJoe1 saidThe Framers weren't fools; they wouldn't have wasted their time taking away the war power from the Executive if the latter could simply circumvent it by not using certain words when he started a war.
