@averagejoe1 saidjimmi excels in the one liner insults and source condemning...outside of that he hasnt got much
This is where the person who seems to know all about BANKRUPTCY!!! does not know anything. he is saying that 'any debt' may be forgiven, but he is saying that you can pick out the one you want to be forgiven???? Jesus. He wrote about this for days, and it is false. Bankruptcy affects a person's total picture.
@wildgrass saidMost logical. No one could argue otherwise. XYZ has a loose life, spends all he makes, good times, saves no money for college. ABC saves for college. XYZ uses borrowed money for tuition, ABC uses his savings. How many ways can this be drilled into the minds of the most-typical liberal people on this thread? Pitiful. And, it is pitiful and loser-ville for these libs to not ManUp, admit that it sucks. Will be hard to respect their views on any other subject when they are dead wrong on this one.
It took me almost 20 years to pay off my college debt, one minimum payment at a time. It'd be kind of hard to imagine if others' in my situation who weren't responsible with paying off their loan used my tax dollars for their debt.
@averagejoe1 saidLMAO! You idiots really believe that anyone these days saves enough money to afford college?

This ain't 1939, Joe. Going to a four year in-state public school costs over $100,000 and public out of state and private institution cost way more than that. https://educationdata.org/average-cost-of-college#:~:text=At%20private%2C%20nonprofit%20institutions%2C%20on,pay%20an%20average%20of%20%249%2C395.
Sorry you're bitter that some kids are getting a chance for an education, Joe.
@wildgrass saidGet over it. What you spent is what's called a "sunk cost". It doesn't help you any to have recent graduates mired in debt.

Economically it makes good sense to have the government raise the income of these productive people by forgiving some or all of the government held debt.

that could apply to anyone except a handful of million/billionaires.
didnt realize the govt had money to throw around...last I checked we were in debt around 30 trillion. how does going further in debt "help the economy"?
@mott-the-hoople saidPlenty of ways we could cut down government spending. The government collected about $70 billion in student loan payments in 2019 (https://slate.com/business/2021/03/student-loan-total-annual-government-payments.html#:~:text=The%20grand%20total%3A%20%2470.3%20billion,paused%20due%20to%20the%20pandemic.); a 10% cut in military spending would more than cover that even if the Feds forgave all student loan debt.

@mott-the-hoople saidThe US already spends more than 12 times Russia does on defense. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1203160/military-expenditure-russia/#:~:text=Military%20expenditure%20in%20Russia%201993%2D2020&text=Russia%20spent%20over%2061.7%20billion,compared%20to%20the%20previous%20year.

@no1marauder saidDont get your silly last sentence. And ‘saving money’ is generalization that he put himself thru college, it does notmean he piled $100k into his safety deposit box.

Have u never heard the phrase ‘put himself thru college’? Of course borrowing tuition is fine, but like all responsible people, pay it back, or dont borrow it. Libs hate hard truth, reality. Wonder how much govt should pick up the tab? Should govt reimburse those who put themselves thru college? Didnt QQ ask you that? What was your answer?

@no1marauder said10%. Why thats exactly the portion of our military that could save Ukraine!!! So if Marauder cuts military by 10% , he wants to dole it out to people who have made bad, or no, judgements. Poor planners. These people would use up the money that would instead have gone to save Ukraine.
