What if a mod would start banning players for using the word "blue", or for having a user name starting with "F"? Should we just accept it because the opinion of a mod can't be disputed?

That's the judgement call. Stocken could have been expected to know this would provoke some reaction (and if he really didn't know, that's not a defence; he should have known). On the other hand, I don't think he could have been expected to know quite how strong the reaction would ultimately be.

It was a provocative thread, and Phlab was right about this. Ultimately he decided, correctly in my view, to change his mind about the appropriate "punishment". My guess is he'd have done the same if Stocken had contacted him directly, via PM, making these points.

Much ado about nothing.

Just as you should have expected your new clan thread would provoke some reaction.

I'm not biting, thanks. But I could have.

Of course. But not from or about any particular poster, and - in any case - I made I clear I agreed with Phlab about his change of mind.

So what's your point?

SJ's just jealous, it's ok.

Point is, even if one posts a knowingly provocative thread (in Stocken's case, no, in yours, yes) I see no issue with it that requires moderation.
The people involved in the bickering can choose to take part, or not. It isn't a life or death issue, requiring banning and deleting.

Why attack Freddy for his view, SJ### isn't a mod either.

I've stated my case, and other users of this site are free to say what they think.

No, clearly we shouldn't just accept it, as it would be a completly unnecessary banning, with no justification whatsoever. My point is that it is the mod's decision who is banned, it can be disputed, but shouldn't be dragged through the forums. If someone wants to bring something up with the mods it should be done in private.

Of couse there are going to be times when a mod makes a mistake, BF made one with me once, and when I PMd him to ask why I was banned, he explained and then I explained why it wasn't actually a cheating accusation, and he retracted the ban, because it was a legitimate mistake. This was not.

I am opposing his view, as his view is not one I agree with. He has stated only mod's opinions count, I disagree.

I just love how history repeats itself.....And really, why shouldn't it?

Once again, argument digressing into pointless twisting, and buttpatting.

This is so lame.

So why should I not be able to oppose your view without getting slated?

edit: and mod's opinions are the only ones that count when it comes down to it. Do you, or anyone else here apart from the mods and admin see a button saying ban or remove?
