The mod's opinions are the only ones that count when it comes to who gets banned and who doesn't. Of course everyone is entitled to an opinion, but it's not like a public vote to see who gets banned and who doesn't.
Originally posted by SJ247That's the judgement call. On the other hand, I don't think he could have been expected to know quite how strong the reaction would ultimately be.
The "jackasses" as you call them, didn't know it would provoke.
It was a provocative thread, and Phlab was right about this. Ultimately he decided, correctly in my view, to change his mind about the appropriate "punishment". My guess is he'd have done the same if Stocken had contacted him directly, via PM, making these points.
Much ado about nothing.

I'm not biting, thanks. But I could have.
Originally posted by dottewellPoint is, even if one posts a knowingly provocative thread (in Stocken's case, no, in yours, yes) I see no issue with it that requires moderation.
Of course. But not from or about any particular poster, and - in any case - I made I clear I agreed with Phlab about his change of mind.
So what's your point?
The people involved in the bickering can choose to take part, or not. It isn't a life or death issue, requiring banning and deleting.
Originally posted by NordlysNo, clearly we shouldn't just accept it, as it would be a completly unnecessary banning, with no justification whatsoever. My point is that it is the mod's decision who is banned, it can be disputed, but shouldn't be dragged through the forums. If someone wants to bring something up with the mods it should be done in private.

Of couse there are going to be times when a mod makes a mistake, BF made one with me once, and when I PMd him to ask why I was banned, he explained and then I explained why it wasn't actually a cheating accusation, and he retracted the ban, because it was a legitimate mistake. This was not.
Originally posted by SJ247So why should I not be able to oppose your view without getting slated?
I am opposing his view, as his view is not one I agree with. He has stated only mod's opinions count, I disagree.
edit: and mod's opinions are the only ones that count when it comes down to it. Do you, or anyone else here apart from the mods and admin see a button saying ban or remove?
