If you don't even know who gave the ban, you'd have to PM all the mods, and quite likely you won't even get a reply from the mod who gave the ban. And the other mods or the administrators have no way to see what actually happened, as no logs of these incidents are kept (or so I have been told).
My point is that it is the mod's decision who is banned, it can be disputed, but shouldn't be dragged through the forums.
Edit: And by the way, I went the way of discussing it in private when I got one of my bans, and Phlabibit thought it was much worse than this public discussion.

99% of the time it is quite clear to people who their post got removed or they got banned, they just don't believe that they should have been banned for it.

I am opposing his view, as his view is not one I agree with. He has stated only mod's opinions count, I disagree.

So why should I not be able to oppose your view without getting slated?
edit: and mod's opinions are the only ones that count when it comes down to it. Do you, or anyone else here apart from the mods and admin see a button saying ban or remove?
Or are you referring to my sarcastic response saying, "Shut up fred you're not a mod."?

I don't blindly defend. I opposed a BS ban. Once.
And would again.

Point is, even if one posts a knowingly provocative thread (in Stocken's case, no, in yours, yes) I see no issue with it that requires moderation.
The people involved in the bickering can choose to take part, or not. It isn't a life or death issue, requiring banning and deleting.
But it is reasonable to expect people to put some thought into the consequences of their posts. And "Red Night" is probably the most inflammatory expression around these parts at the moment, with the possible exceptions of "suicide bomber" and "talking apricot".
A judgement call. Everyone seems happy that the right conclusion was reached. Who is treating it as "life or death"? Tell me, and I'll kill them.

Users who receive a private explanation for their ban may choose to post these in the forums for public discussion (either once the ban is expired, or via a site friend whilst the ban is ongoing).
Either way this could cause a bigger manure storm than the one in this thread.
