For you Big Ten fans, Penn State and Ohio State got blow out wins today (though the Nittany Lions struggled in the 1st half against Michigan) in front of their clash next week in Columbus. It's virtually certain that the winner of that game will win the Big Ten and highly probable that if Penn State wins it will go to the BCS Championship Game.
Any one think the Buckeyes can upset Penn State?
Texas is the team to beat. They thoroughly dismantled Missouri on national tv. 35-0 before Mizzou tacks on a field goal. Colt McCoy is the real deal. Oklahoma State next week for our third ranked team in a row, and Texas Tech the week after. Baylor is a scare game with Kansas and Texas A&M to round it out. If Texas runs the table through that grinder, I don't care who they throw at them in the national championship game. I hope it is Boise State!! 😛
Originally posted by shortcircuitCertainly Texas is playing the best right now, but I still don't think they can run the table with so many tough games ahead - their next two will be against teams in the Top 8. And even if they do, they'll still have to play in a Big 12 Championship game against probably either Kansas or Missouri at a neutral field. If they do all that, they'll be in the BCS Championship game and be heavy favorites. I just don't think it will happen.

I have a feeling that Penn State will beat Ohio State next week and finish undefeated and thus make the Championship game. I think a one loss team from either the SEC, the Big 12 or USC will be their opponent. But there's still so much football to be played that this is little more than speculation.
Originally posted by no1marauderI will make a bolder statement and that is if Penn State beats my Buckeyes they WILL most definitely wind up in the NCG, however, I am holding out hope that my Buckeyes will beat them and face USC in the Rose Bowl for a rematch. I also think it safe to say that the Buckeyes will NOT be considered for another NCG because of their past showings and their embarrassing loss at USC.

Really, there is nothing to loose at this point in facing USC again in the Rose Bowl because they have already been humiliated by them once. In addition, it will be another practice game for us when we face them again next year.
As for USC, I think it safe to say they are out of the NCG. They already have one loss and their weak schedule is but a joke. Then again, they are USC so maybe politics may override my predictions.
Originally posted by whodeyI think there is way too many games left in this season to say that. There have already been a ton of upsets and I suspect there will be more. Furthermore, If USC were to run the table, it is not inconceivable that they could be in the NCS with only one loss (even before Boise State if they went undefeated), if two of the three teams rated above them suffered a loss. I would relish a Texas-Penn State or a Texas-Alabama NCS game. Texas has a field of landmines to navigate to get there, but I believe they are the best team in the country talent-wise. The best part is they are young and will return nearly everyone next year.

Originally posted by whodeyTheir "weak" schedule will include a crushing victory over a Top Ten team IF OSU beats Penn State plus a victory over Oregon which was rated in the Top 25 when they played them. The best possible outcome for USC would be an OSU win over the Nittany Lions. Even the 52-7 win over Virginia might look good with the Cavs now on a hot streak. USC has scored big wins in every game except for the Oregon State upset and already stand #5 in the BCS. It's ridiculous to count them out of the championship game or make the silly statement that "politics" would be needed to help them get in. It will be a tough call if the SEC or Big 12 champions have only one loss, but if either loses two, USC will be in IF they run the table.

I suspect that if they do go to the big game and get blown out that Big Ten teams will begin to get snubbed from here on out.
Originally posted by whodeyPenn State only gets in if Texas or Alabama stumbles AND if PSU runs the table. They have to get by OSU first. If the PSU team that played Michigan in the first half shows up, it could be a long night. The advantage PSU has is a relatively easy schedule after OSU whereas Texas and Alabama have several tough, ranked opponents to get by. There is no question that the Big 10 is not in the same class with the Big 12 OR the SEC. Top to bottom, those are the two best conferences in the country. I believe the Pac 10 is ahead of the Big 10 as well. That is my opinion anyway.

Originally posted by EladarThere's no way the voters would allow a rematch game between conference rivals to decide the BCS Championship.
Don't count out OU just yet. OU has to figure out its defense and special teams, but the offense is still very good.
It is possible that if both Texas and OU win out, it could very well be an all Big XII MNC game.
The voters don't get much of a choice. It is 1 vs 2. OU is ranked 4th. If the two teams between OU and Texas both lose a game and OU and Texas win out, OU may be in it.
Strength of schedule may come into play and with the Big 12 getting as much respect that its getting and OU has two good OOC games: TCU and Cincy.
