Secondly, can any one tell me why statistically the opponents playing OSU over the last 5 years have the lowest penalty average of any other team? Tonight, Penn State had ZERO pen ...[text shortened]... as humiliated the last 14 Big Ten teams in the Rose Bowl yet they keep comm'in back for more!!!
Penn State in the last few years has done well in their bowl appearances (they've won 3 in a row and 5 of 6), unlike most Big Ten teams. I could see them being competitive against Alabama or a Big 12 team.

Doing well in bowl experiences is far different than playing in the big game.

Edit: Does this mean you have respect for some teams in the Big Ten? In fact, if you have respect for Penn State then you must have respect for OSU because they only lost to them by a touchdown.

A 35-3 drubbing by USC where OSU hardly put up a fight left me with very little respect for the Buckeyes. They do seem to have a psychological advantage over the other Big Ten teams though. College football is an emotional game and I notice that quite a few of the conference games are very close even between teams that aren't close in record and/or ability. Look at all the problems USC has in the Pac-10 (they're struggling against Arizona as I type this) while they crush good non-conference foes regularly.

Two years ago, I didn't give Penn State a chance in a bowl game with a very good Tennessee team, but they avoided mistakes, got a big defensive touchdown and won 20-10. They're a solid fundamental team. I don't think they can be competitive against Florida or USC in a BCS Championship game (teams with explosive offenses and good defenses) but against a team like Alabama which isn't a scoring machine or the Big 12 teams which play little defense, I think they'd have a shot esp. if they get some turnovers (they got a big one last night on Pryor's 4th quarter fumble at midfield).

Which would seem to point out that they are a solid team when it comes to fundamentals. Can USC beat them? It would be a good game.

As I said Shortcircuit, the earlier discussion is irrelevant.

The Whorns lose to Texas Tech.

All in all, a good day for me and college football. OU kicked Nebraska's butt and Notre Dame lost to Pitt.

Yeah, your predictions were spot on.

They weren't predictions. They were outcomes that made me happy!

I hate Texas because of their arrogant fans. I want to see Notre Dame lose every game possible because of our argument back when you thought they were going to a BCS game.

It all has to do with the crap that I have to read or hear when certain teams win.

I never said they were going to a BCS game as you well know. I did say they would probably lose to Pitt quite some time ago.

Your reasoning is childish.

The Irish should move into the top 25 with this win and their schedule is rather weak for a Notre Dame team. If they can win at Michigan State next week and home a ...[text shortened]... t one big (which seems probable) a 1 loss ND team would be a virtual certainty for a BCS bowl.
I replied:

Notre Dame in a BCS bowl this year? You are definitely without a clue.

To which you replied:
Look at their schedule and tell me what games they are likely to lose, wiseass. http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/teamSchedule?categoryId=86126

Michigan was probably their toughest opponent (except for USC, of course) and they won handily.

I love it, "wiseass".

What part of "if they can win at Michigan State" is the hardest for you to understand?

You told me to look at their schedule (including Michigan State) and asked me which games they were likely to lose. You then called me a wiseass.

Fact is that you like to go on and on about your opinions as if they had weight. You do this in more than one forum and make belittling comments about anyone who disagrees. In this case you threw around the term "wiseass".

It is clear that in this case you are wrong, but instead of admitting it, you continue to defend yourself. Classic.

Fact remains, Texas lost to the Red Raiders. With it you guys lost inside track position to an easy MNC victory over Penn State.

If Tech loses to OSU and OU you guys have still have a chance at a Big XII Championship.
