two matched Top 25 teams in what looked like competitive games and the other was BCS bound Notre Dame.
Defeating Stanford by 7 at home isn't going to get you into a BCS game. But you are right on one point, if it will do it for any team, it will be for Notre Dame. The domers have people behind the scenes.
Originally posted by EladarActually, I don't really think that ND will make it into the BCS after the Michigan State loss. They'll almost certainly lose to USC and will probably lose to either North Carolina or Boston College (or both) on the road. Pitt might even upend them at South Bend. Still, they are a much improved team.

Originally posted by no1marauderTo make it fair, I suggest that we only go by the games that everyone picked from the first round, that is, the original games that I picked. Then next week we will let you pick ten games to your liking and then shortcircuit and then Smookie the next two weeks and then it goes back to me. That way everyone can choose from games that interest them. Everyone will pick 10 games to their liking and we will all make our picks.
Why not? I posted my picks in those games well in front of when the games were played; two matched Top 25 teams in what looked like competitive games and the other was BCS bound Notre Dame. Since when is whodey the infallible judge of what games are important? Anyway, he admitted the games were worth picking and did post picks regarding them. That you we ...[text shortened]... oo uninformed to do so is your problem; you posted in the thread after the my picks were put in.

Wisconsin pounds Ohio State
It is NEVER easy traveling to Madison and getting a win. In fact, the Buckeyes broke up their streak of 16 straight wins at home. Secondly, I am proud to see that Tressel picked up my earlier recommendation of playing freshman Pryor over stumbling, fumbling, Boeckman. In fact, if Boeckman had played instead of Pryor, the Badgers would have probably won. Thirdly, I saw quite a few penalties that should have been thrown at Wisconsin that were not called. In fact, I heard announcer say after the game that opponents playing against Ohio State over the last 5 years had the fewest number of penalties of any other team within the Big Ten. Does this suggest bias in regards to Ohio State? After all, they have been dominating the Big Ten basically since Tressel came to town. Is this an effort with officials to try and "even" things out?
The new #1 team in the nation should be Texas. They also have the toughest schedule on the planet remaining with games against Missouri, followed by Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Kansas, not to mention our other annual grudge match where you can toss records out the window against Texas A&M.
It is tough to say whether the Big 12 or the SEC is the tougher conference, but it appears the national Champion is destined to come from one of those two conferences, since the Golden Domers don't have a prayer!! 😉
Originally posted by shortcircuitNo one ever said that Notre Dame had a chance to play for the championship. Your after the games are over predictions are good, but maybe you should try doing them before the opening kickoffs.

Originally posted by no1marauderSpeaking of the Big Ten, we might as well ask the question as to what should be done with Penn State? After all, they are almost assured to go undefeated this year. All that stands in their way really are my Buckeyes and I have to say, as much as it pains me, they should crush them. So when they win out:
[b]Michigan of the mighty Big Ten loses to 1-4 MAC lightweight Toledo. In Ann Arbor no less.[/b
Should they be snubbed for the NCG?
If they are, should they be snubbed for the Rose Bowl facing USC as well or are we doomed to watch USC destroy yet another Big Ten team?
I really don't see away around snubbing them for both bowls. If they did, it would finally be an admission that the Big Ten no longer belongs in the same division, and I just don't see it happening no matter how many more times the Big Ten gets humiliated.
Originally posted by EladarSo no one mentioned Florida destroying LSU? Interesting. As a matter of fact, the score was close to the score Flordia beat my Buckeyes a few years back in the NCG. Of course, that was called an embarrassment but when it is LSU it is just over looked. 😉
There were a couple of embarrassing loses today. Auburn lost to Arkansas. Having said that, I'd have to agree that the Michigan loss is the worst.
Just to keep track of ND, that's loss number two for them.
Having said all that, it would appear the match up in this years NCG will be Texas and Florida. As for myself, I will take Florida.
