Originally posted by EladarI didn't claim they should be; I did think they would be after beating Michigan. Please get your facts straight.
The fact is that in every stat other than the one that counts, Michigan did outplay Notre Dame. I know that's a football term that doesn't make sense for those who never played. I understand how you could be totally confused.
Did you bother to look and see where you claimed that ND should have been in the top 25?
Is that definition of "outplaying" someone while being badly behind the whole game another one you got from God himself?
EDIT: I did say they "should move into the Top 25". That wasn't meant as a personal evaluation (I had seen very few other teams at the time) but as an expectation.

So now you are going to play the "what the definition of 'is' is" defense. Surprised that they weren't and believing that they should be are the same thing. Why else would be you surpised that they weren't if you didn't think they should?

This is even better jibberish than you originally posted.

There's lots of interesting scenarios if Oklahoma beats Texas Tech. Suppose OU, TT and Texas ALL finish with one loss; who'll be highest in the BCS (the tiebreaker for who gets into the Big 12 Championship)? Suppose the South Champ then loses to Missouri; could one of the other two teams make it to the BCS Championship game?
Gotta love it (though a playoff would be nice).
Originally posted by gambit3Trust me, Texas Tech is for real, but I think Oklahoma may be able to hold them off. If that happens, it will be interesting to see if the pollsters move OU ahead of Texas. The computers will certainly benefit OU, since Kansas and A&M do not give Texas any more strength points.

OU is already ahead of Texas in the coaches polls. I don't think victories over Tech and OSU would change things.

Originally posted by shortcircuitThe AP isn't taken into consideration by the BCS. At the moment OU is suffering in the computer polls because of Strength of Schedule. If OU is able to defeat both Tech and OSU they will greatly increase the Strength of Schedule component, as well as rising in the Coaches poll.

Yeah Boy,
Penn State lost last week so unless they get alot of help, they are out of the picture.
Originally posted by YEAH BOYPSU is on the outside looking in right now. I believe you will see Florida, Alabama, two out of Texas, OU & Texas Tech, USC, as the legitimate shots at the title game. I think PSU will get a BCS bowl game should they win out. This is my opinion anyway.

Originally posted by shortcircuitIt is a given that IF Penn State wins out that they should go to the Rose Bowl which means they are out of the NC picture. However, if Penn State loses to Michigan State, all bets are off and OSU goes to the Rose Bowl to face USC. Really, Penn State losing to Iowa was a relief to most people because everyone knows, except Penn State fans, that they did not belong in the NCG.

In addition, in my opinion it is a given that Florida is the best team in the land so if they are denied entrance into the NCG you will not see the best two teams playing. As for who is second, who cares? No one comes close to Florida right now.
Originally posted by shortcircuitIf Penn State wins against Michigan State, they win the Big Ten and go to the Rose Bowl. If they lose, they still might make a BCS bowl. There are 10 BCS spots and no conference can have more than 2. It's a given that the SEC and Big 12 will send two. It's highly unlikely two mid-majors will be allowed in, so it's either Utah or Boise State assuming they win out. That leaves 5 or 6 spots (6 if Utah and Boise State lose a game). Of the 4 other BCS conferences, there is no chance that the Big East or ACC will place a 2nd team in the top 16 of the BCS (I doubt they'll place one team in the top 16). So you're left with either a Big Ten or Pac-10 team making it. Even if Michigan State beats Penn State and both have two losses, a BCS bowl might prefer Penn State.

USC going to the Rose Bowl isn't a sure thing. Oregon State owns the tie breaker and needs only to win at Arizona and at home against Oregon to win the Pac-10 title. And USC might stumble against UCLA; they have a bit of a history of losing Pac-10 games they shouldn't. I don't think they will this time though. If Oregon State does win the Pac-10, USC would be in a BCS bowl anyway if they win out.
Originally posted by no1marauderDon't get me wrong, I despise Florida, it is just that I respect the SEC especially after laying waste to my Buckeyes twice in the NCG. I just think they are head and shoulders above any other conference out there. In order for conferences to gain my respect they must first beat the best in the SEC in the NCG.
