Originally posted by shortcircuitThis argument just goes in circles; are the Big 12 offenses so great or are they system ones playing against below average defenses? We know that Florida stuffed the pre-season #1 (Georgia) and the defending national champions (LSU). Of course, they now "suck" according to Big 12 fans. We'll see what happens in the bowl games. Of course, Florida is no lock to reach the BCS Championship but to me they look like the most complete team.
But what powerful offenses have they played against? Show me the rankings of all of those powerful offenses they have stifled and I will bet none of them are rated as highly as Texas or OU or even Texas Tech. I shouldn't have to keep explaining the simple stuff to you. Geez!!

In fact, I had made statements before saying he should have been given the axe, and I'm not even a fan of ND. As a result, I think perhaps they may let him go a few more years. It would not suprise me at this point. If and when he does get the axe, however, perhaps the Bengals might take him. There he would have a job for life!!!
ND's loss to Syracues has got to be the final nail in Charley's coffin.[/b]

Money is also the reason why we are stuck with the bowl system and can't get a play off system.
For those who are interested, it looks like Bill Snyder is going to take back the head coaching job at K-State.

How so? You could use the bowl system as playoff games, but that would mean all the bowls could not be seen on New Years day. Now which bowl is going to go for that I wonder?

Only the Rose and Orange are played on New Year's Day anymore. http://www.bcsfootball.org/bcsfootball/
Originally posted by no1marauderNot a very good one. Perhaps it would allow for a 4 team play-off, but how many fans have the bucks to see two bowl games? The big money is selling packages for over $1000 with each ticket. They sell the tickets with air line tickets, hotel + food and jack up the price. You can only sell the ticket at face value. Once you bundle it with other things you can charge as much as you want.

Originally posted by EladarThe four bowl games and the BCS Championship Game are already played to full crowds. The plan I devised would add two semi final games after the four major bowls. There would be plenty of TV money and a lot of interest in those games; I'm pretty sure they'd be guaranteed money makers.

Yes, it would make money, but it would either cut into the crowds of the first bowl game or the second.
Better would be a play off system played at home fields until the season final. The BCS bowls slots would be filled with play-off teams.
An eight team, three game play off would do. It would keep the drama up, preserving the importance of the regular season. Two games in December followed up by a two week break before the bowl games.
If this is too many games, then simply do away with a non-conference game. Those games are meaningless anyhow. OU wouldn't miss a thing by not playing Chatanooga.

December is also for semester finals. Though it doesn't effect most Big 12 and SEC schools, there are some universities that actually require their athletes to take and pass courses. Weird I know, but what are ya gonna do?
