The Malthusian Theory. In essence: when world or area is overpopulated, nature balances things out for us. Malthus offers us some help here. Killing yourself is the ecological thing to do. Help us manage the population. Then you'll feel better about yourself. You won't feel like the snivelling pathetic self-pitying chump that your. :'( Just kidding of course. You wrench my heart and I'll be unable to sleep after reading your woeful tale. Lose a few chess games and boost someones rating and feel useful. Cheers my fine friend.😀

One time, long ago, darvlay told me why he was depressed.
I cried for a week. Canada is a harsh place.

Originally posted by bot 6I think that depression is part of the human condition and most of us have it happen at least every few years. It can become a growth period for some. The depression you describe sounds very much a chemical issue and you are doing the right thing with medication, probably. I don't really put much stock in therapy (especially years of it) but that is just my opinion...It may always be a struggle with you and can seem insurmountable. Hopefully you have loved ones around you that care and are patient with you.
im 27, it started when i was 18. everything from suicidal tendency"s, thoughts of homicide, or completely jaded. i wouldent care about nothing.....and i meen nothing. your world becomes uncolorfull everyday.
ive learned to deal with it. which means everything is still black, but instead of wanting to cut myself or something i just combat it mentaly by use of ...[text shortened]... fake and superfitcial to me. i dont think that will ever change. anyone else feel the same way?
Good advice here from some including that you must do things you love. Those bits of bliss you find are worth it when you feel this way most of the time. All the best to you.

You should count yourself lucky.
You live in a 1st World country, you've got a roof over your head, easy access to food and clean drinking water, no life threatening diseases (I assume), no wars being fought on your doorstep, rights to vote and express your opinions, access to health care and medical treatment, opportunities for education and employmen ...[text shortened]... I bet most of them would give their right arm to trade places with you and your 'bleak' life.
It's true that people can be self-indulgent but I think depression as a mood disorder is different. I remember a guy who had suffered from depression for years; during one bout he decided to walk out in front of a truck and permanently cure his depression: he succeeded.
