Hey friend your misery bewilders me
How come you're never satisfied or gratified
Four walls n' a roof, electricity,
Stable mind, wife and child,
Hot and cold water to run anytime.
But still you, whine.

I want more

A bum could rummage through ya bin
And live like a king
On just one crumb o'ya cake
N'ya say ya life needs fulfilling
Some would give anything to live like you
Shame your mind, don't shine
Like your possessions do.
Whining, complaining all the time,
Don't see no rain on you
What side your bread is buttered on
If only you knew

What d'ya mean
I want more

Yep

I was told as a child,
I wants never gets
Learned to count my blessings
Long before I saw an abacus
So what ya family don't speak
At least they're alive
Show me a man without guilt
Or a soul that ain't lied
You don't know what ya got
Open your eyes, look around
Really, hear me you,
Ain't got no reason to be down

What d'ya mean
I want more

Friend what is it that you seek
What is it that you try to find
Someday I hope you realized
It shined in you all the time.
Hills to climb, sights to see, seas to cross,
Friends to make, hands to shake, the world is yours,
Foods to taste, sounds to hear, love to feel,
Seeds to sow, things to know, fish to reel,
Space to quiz, stones to lift, life's a gift

What d'ya mean
I want more

Yep

What d'ya mean
I want more

Although I agree there are people with worse problems, giving advice that "there are many people worse off than you" still doesn't help that person, it only succeeds in making them feel worse.

It is like saying to someone in a wheelchair, "At least you still have your arms, there are people who don't have any arms or legs".

We all live in relativity, an ...[text shortened]... that "there are people worse off than you" isn't going to help in any way at all.
If you ask stupid questions, you get stupid answers.

Like you say, web forums aren't the place to get psychological help so what's the point of posting narcissistic drivel like that? Attention? Pity? What ever his reasoning is, if you post like that in a public forum, not everyone who replies is going to beat around the bush with namby-pamby, ego-stroking messages. You may not agree with it, but I still stand by my statement.

Sometimes, but to a lesser extent.

Hope you are getting help and don't do anything silly if you have a particularly bad day.

I'm relatively new here and yet I've seen some of this behaviour before. And always some people ask why is it that some of us come to public forum in the internet and expose some of his problems and ask for advice/help. I don't think that in most cases what drives them is attention seeking. I think most people feel that here they are a part of a community, a part of something. The other main reason that I see for such behaviour is the paradoxal thhing that even though we may feel like we are part of a community we don't really know each other. At least the most part. So we don't have to face funny faces, or pitty looks when we are spilling beans that we wouldn't spill to people we face.
That's just my two cents.

Fair enough. I could understand that in a small internet community, but not one of this size. This place is so large, there are numerous communities here that all cross over each other.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabin_fever

"Cabin fever is a condition that produces restlessness and irritability caused from being in a confined space. The actual word is a slang term for a claustrophobic reaction that takes place when a party is isolated and/or shut in together for an extended period of time.

The term possibly originated in the United States at the time when settlers would be snowed in to their log cabins and had to wait for the spring thaw in order to travel to town. Another possible source for this phrase could be that during an outbreak of some disease, people who had a fever were confined to a cabin as a quarantine. Most likely, the phrase may be associated with ocean-crossing sailing ships in which passengers had to endure weeks and months of slow travel while living in cramped cabins below deck.

Ok, see your point, and agree that there isn't any benefit in starting this thread here at all.

One time, long ago, darvlay told me why he was depressed.

I cried for a week. Canada is a harsh place.
