Think you should be worried about them anyway. Could be a tight one.

Portugal Vs Croatia should be fun.

No, no, no, mon fraire. France is solid at all phases of the game, (offense, defense, goal tender)
and they are a sure threat to go all the way, ^^in my humble opinion^^

From my hockey experience, a good goaltender is the most important or rarest ingredient.
Cape Verde impressed me, and to a slightly lesser degree, as did the French goalie.

France were really good, and Mbape’s goal was superb.

Looking at the possible winners there you think?

They, France, were “all over” the Swedes. Look at how many times the hit the posts. Coulda been a bigger rout.

@Earl of Trumps,

You are correct in Hockey an experienced Goaltender can win games. I saw some incredible stops in the games I saw, and the nets are much bigger than Hockey nets but again the ball is bigger than a puck. You, Sir are correct on that one!!!

IF England win, their next game would be against Mexico, right?

For clarity and correctness; the team member manning the goal in a football (soccer) game is called a “goalkeeper”.

Ice hockey nomenclature acknowledged 🙂

Actually Diver,

We who have played the game call him/her a Goalie!!! 😉 That was the position I played.

Players most commonly refer to a goaltender as a "goalie". Other widely used nicknames and terms vary slightly depending on the specific sport.

Just for Clarification! 😉

BTW: Enjoy your favorite sport, nice to see the best players in the World play.

Sure.

I had picked France to win it already. No weaknesses on that team. I like them more that Argentina.

I'm sure you remember the introduction of goalie, Ken Dryden, right at the start of the playoffs,
and who then went on to guide the 4th place Canadiens to a NHL championship. Stunning.

Not convinced about Englands goaltender, was lucky a couple of mistakes didn't cost him against Ghana.

Come on Congo 😁

Indeed I do, I believe he was the first Rookie Goalie to do it, I believe Patrick Roy was also a rookie when he won his first stanley cup. Those 2 were both amazing goalies.

Ken Dryden was more laid back and concervetive where Patrick Roy was more aggressive and would actually get in fights with other players as well as goalies. I rememember Trembly who use to be his room mate leave him in for 11 goals against Detroit and Patrick Roy going up to the President of the Candadians that always say behind their bench and telling him I just played my last game.

He was Traded to Colorado days later and all they had been missing to be contenders was a #1 Goalie and a Defenceman. They had already gotten Ray Bourque from Boston who hand never won a cup, and soon as he was traded to Colorado I remember saying they just won the Stanley Cup, sure enough that is what happened.
