WOW. Talk about a hard way to go, he must have been in continual agony, there's not enough morphine to quench that kind of damage without being fatal.
This man wasn't some slouch, either. A Ph.D in engineering? I thought the profile of your typical suicide bomber was a disaffected slob with a room-temp IQ.
Anyway, this guy didn't get 70 virgins, or whatever, he got a month of incredible, constant, drive-you-mad pain. Ya reckon he thought he'd gone to hell for what he wanted to do? I certainly hope so.
