How are cheats discovered??

I have been wondering this for a while!??

I know there is a program that you can run your game through in order to beat your opponent, just like these players have been discovered in doing.

BUT, could these people just be good enough that they would make the same moves as the program?? I mean, is it possible for some people to think exactly like the program used to cheat?? I realise that the probability wouldnt be 100% all the time which leads me onto say how many games are checked before these people are classed as cheats?

I was wondering this for a while as it was a human who came up with the program so could it be feasible for the human brain to think the same???

Cheers🙂

Presumably it is unlikely to find a human player with both the consistently near-perfect tactics of a computer alongside the strategic ineptitude. I imagine a Centaur player (ie a chess-playing human using computer to check tactics) would be very hard to spot, however.

then would it be possible, if a person who wanted to cheat, to have many different programs to play with?? could a player use a different program for each game therefore reducing his/her chances of being caught and NOT being linked to one particular program?

I realise that the human brain is stronger than the computer, as proved and provided by Fifthdivision in the Chess Only forum (against Mary Ann). It would be interesting to see if the moves by Fifthdivision in this game are matched by any of the many programs available.

Please do not take any offence by my suggesting this Fifthdivision, I am by NO means implying or suggesting anything untoward.

Some of the moves made are simply blind moves. One of these 'players' once messaged me back after I said 'nice move'. He replied 'Yer sorry did not realise how bad that was for you until after I had made the move'. WTF!!!!! How can you make a move not knowing what it does!!! The move came back almost immeadiately I had moved as well. I suspected he was using and he is now on my list of players to avoid.

I withdraw from tourni's if I see anyone on my list enter.

Also, Ironman played someone in my clan and after he was outted I checked it myself. He had a pawn promoted which was to be retaken straight away. At the time the default was queen. Fritz recommended Queen or rook. Rook was first in the list and guess what. Ironman changed the default from queen to rook!!!! BTW every move was no. 1 rec in fritz.

And it's not 8 or 9 moves it's consistant moves over a wide range of games.

The first 8 or 9 moves [or even more] could just be a standard type opening or a database which is ok though. After that you should be thinking for yourself.
Or what's the freaking point????

Actually this has happened to me a lot. Often it is a defensive move though. I have opened games where i have just happened to make the saving move, without realising what was threatened (as the result of a combination i didn't originally see). A good example is this game...

Game 1932239

I happened to move my Queen away to e7 on the second to last move (to relieve the pin) without realising my opponent could win her outright with Bg5! My opponent then played Bh6+ and offered a draw. The right move for the wrong reason.

this is different from what i have ever read.

... have you ever made a move and then just after you press the move button you go @@@@ @@@@ @@@@!!!?%^&&

here is an example ---> Game 2156004

i maybe around 5 bad mistakes like that to ever good one.
I am trying to follow this conversation. What dose no.1 rec. mean please.

I don't understand why someone would cheat. But I don't doubt everyone is capable, it's been my experience those who accuse and question are the ones who are,

I have only come into your world a little bit ago so take my 2 cent or not, in another thread this week i read ratings are over rated an i agree.
I'm sure everyones made a move and said @@@@ @@@@ @@@@!!!?%^&& at least once
