Here are some quotes from Ali...
"Got nothing against no Viet cong, no Vietnamese ever called me a nigger"

"I ain't draft dodging. I ain't burning no flag. I ain't running to Canada. I'm staying right here. You want to send me to jail? Fine, you go right ahead. I've been in jail for 400 years. I could b half of some white guy who was probably oppressing him at the time.

Nah, Ali just beat up guys so he could get paid well and live the high life. The army couldn't offer that, so he elected to boycott.

I agree. I'm saying that war does not justify a country's "national interests.
Tell me you're kidding? Our entire life style and economy are based on OIL. We would turn into a waste land over night. But, have ANY of our politicians come up with a sensible energy policy since the oil shortages in the 70's? We can't even drill for our own oil because of environmental goof balls. We can't build new refineries because of the expense created by new clean air laws. It's a matter of preserving our way of life.

You are exactly right, we are dependent on oil. And that is what we need to change. We have the ability, just apparently not the motivation.

Apparently, it's preferable to disrupt a major region of the world than to resort to energy alternative energies.

That region was going to be taken over by other Iraqi hating nations who would not sell any oil to the west. Then what?

He should have went to jail and added another 20 to his so-called 400 years in jail🙄. I served with Black's who were just as pissed as I was that he didn't serve. He knew he wouldn't do jail time see his black arse moving anywhere's else. It must not be too bad living here in the US.
You are making the point that I made to you previoulsy, so I will repeat it as I suspect that you may have overlooked it. As I said Ali knew he wouldn't have to fight yet still stood by his principles, if you are suggesting by your comment that "he knew he would not get jail time beacause he had money to keep him out of jail" that there would be no price to pay, then consider this, they took away his title(s) and stopped him fighting for 2 years. Incidentally the supreme court I believe eventually vindicated him did they not?, but back on the subject, he then won to world title back when everyone expected him to fail, which was a tremendous achievement. not only physical but mentally he was tough the way he beat Foreman with his 'rope a dope'. Using your words you are smoking some real good stuff if you think Ali would have turned into the real good ******(n-word which I am not going to use) rather than stand up to them, which he did. If you think Ali was a coward then I would suggest that you are most likely in a huge minority. If Russ put a vote on 'was Ali a coward' I would sell at 20%. Ali was a true hero and the states should be very proud of him.

I know most of the cost is tax, that wasn't my point, it was that I thought diesel was very cheap over there, I thought it was less than $4 a gallon?

It is! It's generally about 10 cents less per gallon than petrol at circa 285 cents. But because of the closeness in price, diesel has never yet really taken off in the States, very few diesel cars still. I have a 2.0L Diesel Turbo option for the car I'm working on but we still aren't sure it would market in USA! Shame......

No fair Wittster. That's Ad-populum and therefore not an acceptable debating style. Please stay to the point using your intellect rather than your emotions. 😉
