Yes, you are correct. Just bear in mind though that "stupid" people like myself and countless other veterans fought to insure that right you dearly love so much. The Constitution doesn't mean squat unless you are willing to defend it to the death. That's the problem with most of the people in this country now. They want those rights but, hell no we won't go ...[text shortened]... id" people like me willing to do violent acts so you can sleep safe at night in your bed.
How are we "protecting our constitutional rights" by sitting over there in Iraq, scratching our heads, and playing a waiting game we will never win?

I'm not saying our freedoms aren't worth fighting for; I'm saying we aren't currently fighting for our freedoms.

I do appreceate what the military has brought us. I fully understand how i get my rights as well. bashing peoples beliefs is harsh isn't it. just as me bashing the military is tough for you to swallow. Calling me a coward is just as harsh as me saying you are stupid. I really cannot fathom taking the life of another without even caring, let alone without going into a deep depression for what i've done. I only said i object to fighting.
No. Bad analogy. I've proved that I'm not stupid. You on the other hand have proved your cowardice.

Do you consider Muhammad Ali has a yellow streak down his back (there are probably other examples but he is the one that I immediately thought of), especially when you consider there is no way they would have put him at risk, he would have been used as a ...[text shortened]... his principles and giving up so much when it would have been so easy to go along with the flow.
Yes I think Ali was a coward. His claim to not wanting to hurt anyone fell on my deaf ears when in boxing that's the way of winning by hurting someone. Ali. Great boxer? Yes. Coward? Once again. Yes.

Where did I imply that we were defending our freedoms by being in Iraq? I said veterans fought to give us our rights. As far as Iraq goes I have a son over there right now and I told him the same thing I told his brothers who have been to Iraq and Afghanistan (4 sons in the Army) which was also the same thing my Father told me in 1970. Kill everyone of the SOB's to insure your safe return home. I guess that will shock you also since you don't have a dog in the fight per se.

Sir Witty, we are fighting for our National Interests. Iraq was very unstable and was looking to be taken over by Iran, Al quaeda and Syria. We wanted to secure the area and hopefully establish a democracy friendly to the US. Yes, our national interest...OIL. If you don't need oil then ride your bicycle to work and heat your house with sterno. I was against doing what Bush did. How could he think 130,000 troops ( only 20% 0f which are in a combat position at any one time) could control a country of 64 million i don't know. Bring the soldiers home and let France, Germany, Russia and China drill for the oil. The world is one big dung heap. Best to be on top.

I agree. I'm saying that war does not justify a country's "national interests.

Way to completely twist the actual situation.

Here are some quotes from Ali...
"Got nothing against no Viet cong, no Vietnamese ever called me a nigger"

"I ain't draft dodging. I ain't burning no flag. I ain't running to Canada. I'm staying right here. You want to send me to jail? Fine, you go right ahead. I've been in jail for 400 years. I could be there for 4 or 5 more, but I ain't going no 10,000 miles to help murder and kill other poor people. If I want to die, I'll die right here, right now, fightin' you, if I want to die. You my enemy, not no Chinese, no Vietcong, no Japanese. You my opposer when I want freedom. You my opposer when I want justice. You my opposer when I want equality. Want me to go somewhere and fight for you? You won't even stand up for me right here in America, for my rights and my religious beliefs. You won't even stand up for my right here at home. "

He's not saying he doesn't want to hurt someone, he's saying he doesn't want to hurt somebody on the other side of the world who has done nothing to him on behalf of some white guy who was probably oppressing him at the time.

If you truly believe the US would have sent Ali to Vietnam then you are smoking some real god stuff. He would have went around bases on some USO tour or something. He should have went to jail and added another 20 to his so-called 400 years in jail🙄. I served with Black's who were just as pissed as I was that he didn't serve. He knew he wouldn't do jail time because he had the money to keep him out of jail. I bet if they had stuck his butt in jail for 20 years he would turned into the good ni**er Toby act like the character in the series "Roots". He didn't want to serve this country but I sure didn't see his black arse moving anywhere's else. It must not be too bad living here in the US.
