I'm not kidding. Let me clarify. I assume you do. I don't lock the top windows, where we all have our bedrooms. It's hot, and we do not have central air out here. Most homes don't in my area. So the wind is helpful in summer. The bottom floor windows are locked.
But I know that if someone wants to get in, they can and will. Hopefull, if that happened, m ...[text shortened]... populated suburbs. Most people feel safe here because they are. That's all I can say.

Just wondering how many guns people keep in their house/truck/office?
I'm guessing there are lots more in the U.S. than other countries, but you never know.
Personally, I own a Smith & Wesson .38 revolver and the kids each have a .22 shotgun (they don't have access to unless they are target shooting or hunting) and my husband has a few handguns (2 or 3) that he keeps at the office.
Leave your guns at home
Out here it's $67 for a concealed weapon permit. I'm allowed to carry a concealed weapon at my place of business without a permit. Also, it's legal for anyone to carry a holstered gun here, provided you're not a felon and aren't trying to carry the gun in a place that restricts them, like a bank or federal building. Gotta love the west. 😉

I own an Original SuperSoaker SS 100 which I keep in a random closet somewhere.
I also own an unused discount glue gun purchased on sale from Fabricland.
I have permits for neither. I pray I'll never have to use either of them.

That's me. In the country, and sometimes I leave my door unlocked. I never lock my windows. This is country culture out here. The houses on my street are so far apart that anything could happen and no one would know a thing for about a week. In my town, the murders that have happened have been all types of killings, once or twice a year, mostly domestic. Th ...[text shortened]... n crimes. But I leave the responsibility of gun-related crime where it belongs.
