Just wondering how many guns people keep in their house/truck/office?
I'm guessing there are lots more in the U.S. than other countries, but you never know.
Personally, I own a Smith & Wesson .38 revolver and the kids each have a .22 shotgun (they don't have access to unless they are target shooting or hunting) and my husband has a few handguns (2 or 3) that he keeps at the office.
Originally posted by mlpriorGuns suck. I've never owned one, and don't plan on ever owning one. I think the whole Texan mindset of, "I need a gun to defend myself and my Constitutional liberties" is dated, stupid and highly dangerous.

I don't own a truck. Are there options for people with cars? Or maybe an option for people who would prefer to not own any kind of motor vehicle?
Why the hell would I need a gun at the office???
If I were a gun-toting type of person, why would I need more than one???
I can't imagine buying guns for my kids.

I'm not a gun guy, either, but I could see having one for protection. I would never have one if I had a kid, though (some teens found one not long ago and accidentally shot his friend in the head). I don't plan on having a kid, so who knows.

Originally posted by mlpriorNone whatsoever, thank God. And if any cow-orker of mine had the temerity to keep a gun in the office, I'd personally make sure he'd get both fired and prosecuted.

In Florida where I live, you get life for armed robbery, armed sexual assault, armed kidnapping, etc. Owning a gun is cowardice.. everyone I know or associate with thinks that.
The faster our community realizes these things, the faster we can outlaw weapons like that.

As another poster said, in Australia guns are hard to obtain for the honest folk, just the criminals have them now.
Well thats how it seems some times, but overall i think its been a good thing for our urban populations. It has limited the impulsive gun crimes like gun suicide, gun crimes involving domestic violence and curbed drunken idiots hurting themselves and others with them.
The weapon of choice for the young Aussie gang member now is knives. Horrid things they are too. Its sad to see the day of a good punch on gone the way of the dodo.
I don't understand it. Hand guns are meant for one thing only, to kill people. Why does one need to kill people? I see no need for anyone to have a gun other than the police and military, etc. The American culture is historically a gun culture due currently to the misinterpretation of their Constitution. Why do Americans have this need to kill each other?
I own a 12gauge shotgun, a 20 gauge shotgun, an .3030 lever action rifle with a scope, and a 12 guage pistol grip mossberg shotgun. All of wich I purchased for hunting. I also have a 9x18mm HKG semi auto pistol, a .22 lr semi auto pistol, a .357 magnum smith and wesson police revolver, and a .44 magnum smith and wesson revolver. the 2 semi auto's I bought for my wife for when I go away (she's paranoid) and the 2 revolver's I bought for bear hunting (its illegal to hunt bears without a .357 caliber or better side arm in addition to a shotgun).
I keep none of them at home, unless I'm leaving early in the moprning for a hunting trip. My brother and I share a gun safe in his VERY secure commercial building, and all my guns stay there unless I am using them
