I also have a 9x18mm HKG semi auto pistol, a .22 lr semi auto pistol, a .357 magnum smith and wesson police revolver, and a .44 magnum smith and wesson revolver. the 2 semi auto's I bought for ...[text shortened]... fe in his VERY secure commercial building, and all my guns stay there unless I am using them

i have never owned a gun either and dont plan to. But depending on where you live in the states, you might want one. Some cities are pretty rough. outside the city its usually quiet.
Funny, the further you move from the city, the safer you *think* you are. The country is full of naive dingdongs who think nothing will *ever* happen, and take no precautions to safeguard their homes. Crime happens everywhere, and if I were a criminal, I'd prefer scoping out remote homes without neighbors, than homes with neighbors. Imagine the hours of fun you could have with an unsuspecting couple you sneak in on at 3am, in the middle of the woods, without worry of screams being heard. You don't even need to bust the window, just walk on in through the unlocked front door.

I don't ave a gun but I have roses, does that count? I think people have something more dangerous than a gun and that is their mouth.

It's all about percentages. If you live within a walking distance of 100.000 people, how likely it is that you live within walking distance of a mass-murdering maniac?

Yes ... but country equals hunting: you might run into duecer and your head end up on his wall.

Mass-murdering maniacs drive too.

The argument still applies.

Duecer hunts with shotguns, I doubt you'd have a head to take to the taxidermist.

Does it? Are we talking about crime overall, or specifically "mass-murder"?

Especially in Russia.

Probably varies from land to land. The more newsworthy psychotic rampages in South Africa -- that I remember -- have taken place in the countryside or suburbs of dull towns.

Can anyone tell me the name of the Knysna cannibal who preyed on backpackers in company with some guy he picked up? I need to get in touch with him. Thanks.

Au contraire, he could vaporise your legs and torso for no-fuss mounting.

Pick one. I can argue for both.

I'm curious to know whether owning a gun would have any effect on me.

Would I meet interesting new people?
