Just wondering how many guns people keep in their house/truck/office?
I'm guessing there are lots more in the U.S. than other countries, but you never know.
Personally, I own a Smith & Wesson .38 revolver and the kids each have a .22 shotgun (they don't have access to unless they are target shooting or hunting) and my husband has a few handguns (2 or 3) that he keeps at the office.

Who needs guns when you can have AXES.
I'm with the ladies here...I would rather be safe and cautious than take the chance of someone abducting or hurting yourself or your family.
The only gun that I have for "safety" is the .38 and I would only consider using it if I were alone in the house and someone broke in. Even then, I would not shoot to kill, there are other ways to stop a person...kneecaps are very sensitive.
😀
People must think that Americans run around all day waving guns at each other looking to shoot someone.

I sure don't know the statistics, and even if I knew the numbers, they'd not change my outlook. I don't really care how slim the chance is, there still exists the chance, so I'm not going to fail to take simple precautions that I can take, while still allowing myself and my kids a fairly normal existence. I'm not barring my doors, I'm locking them. What exactly is your complaint with people being cautious rather than careless?

Look to Russia and China, not the USA, for the largest standing
and deployable military forces on the planet as of July, 2008.

Sheer numbers are irrelevant

Must be nice to have a big brother to the South that takes care of you.
Sheep (that would be you) don'i have guns. You got it backwards.
GRANNY.
The US has NEVER taken care of Canada. We've taken care of ourselves from all would be "attackers" Oh that's right, NO one attacked us!
Actually, the last ones to try and attack was, wait for it, THE AMERICANS!!!! And we kicked your ass so badly we marched all the way down to Washington and burned your Whitehouse down.....twice!
Canada doesn't need your "protection". So quit your whining or we'll send some JTF2 guys after your girly ass.

What are JTF2 guys? Why do you need them...are you afraid of something?
Will you be coming with the "Guys"?

Originally posted by uzlessI don't think I implied that guns are needed to protect your children. I don't own guns, don't care to have them in the house. I do enjoy shooting guns, very much, at practice ranges. It's very stress relieving, makes you giddy and all rubbery feeling. Is a little expensive to do it regularly though, and you need a friend who owns guns.

Originally posted by mlpriorWe keep five guns in our home: two rifles (an SKS and a Lee-Enfield) and three pistols: (Ruger 9mm, .38 Special and a Norinco .45 -- a real piece of crap that jams about every third try). I'd like to get a shotgun and a decent deer rifle, but don't see myself buying them anytime soon unless a Democrat gets elected and threatens to ban or restrict gun sales. Then I will take whatever I can from my home equity line of credit and buy as many guns and as much ammunition as I can, because the worst time to need or want a gun is when you can't get one (i.e. L.A. riots).
