I own a 12gauge shotgun, a 20 gauge shotgun, an .3030 lever action rifle with a scope, and a 12 guage pistol grip mossberg shotgun. All of wich I purchased for hunting. I also have a 9x18mm HKG semi auto pistol, a .22 lr semi auto pistol, a .357 magnum smith and wesson police revolver, and a .44 magnum smith and wesson revolver. the 2 semi auto's I bought for ...[text shortened]... fe in his VERY secure commercial building, and all my guns stay there unless I am using them
Last summer, I bought a beautiful gun cabinet at a thrift store for $75 bucks or less. It's a nice oak cabinet with felt-lined racks and would hold about 10 rifles and shotguns. I was so proud of it and was showing it off to my buddy who's a real collector and he reminded me that if someone ever broke into the house, they could steal the rifles out of there easily. Well, unless I could secure the house or at least the room that the case was in, I had to concede that he was right and this wouldn't be a good place to display any rifles or shotguns. So instead of selling the cabinet at at a garage sale, I've decided to use it to hold my pool cues for the billiard table I plan to get.

I'm extremely sad for people in Idaho, M, if what you say is true. I can't imagine that people like you and your society still place importance in them.
In Florida where I live, you get life for armed robbery, armed sexual assault, armed kidnapping, etc. Owning a gun is cowardice.. everyone I know or associate with thinks that.
The faster our community realizes these things, the faster we can outlaw weapons like that.

I don't understand it. Hand guns are meant for one thing only, to kill people. Why does one need to kill people? I see no need for anyone to have a gun other than the police and military, etc. The American culture is historically a gun culture due currently to the misinterpretation of their Constitution. Why do Americans have this need to kill each other?

Funny, the further you move from the city, the safer you *think* you are. The country is full of naive dingdongs who think nothing will *ever* happen, and take no precautions to safeguard their homes. Crime happens everywhere, and if I were a criminal, I'd prefer scoping out remote homes without neighbors, than homes with neighbors. Imagine the hours of fun ...[text shortened]... ard. You don't even need to bust the window, just walk on in through the unlocked front door.
Originally posted by Bosse de NageIt depends. I've met plenty of libertarian or conservative gun owners and dealers that have strong, well thought out opinions. At the gun shows I've attended, I've met plenty of colorful people from all walks of life and many different parts of the country. Mostly, they sell guns because they started out as collectors or they thought they could turn their hobby into a profitable business for a second income.
I'm curious to know whether owning a gun would have any effect on me.
Would I meet interesting new people?
If you decided to play for the other side, I'm also sure you'd make all sorts of interesting friends (Aryan Brotherhood meth dealers, counterfeiters, prostitutes, drug addicts, mob torpedoes, etc.) and have all sorts of crazy times (running from the law, knocking off other drug dealers, shootouts with the F.B.I. or B.A.T.F., etc.).
Most I've owned at one time was ten, I've had maybe two dozen over the years, now I'm down to one, but it's all I need, and it's soooooo pretty:

People who turn up their noses at guns and say they're evil are sissies and need to grow a pair..

your kids don't have .22 shotguns because there is no such thing. i hope that this is not an example of your knowledge of firearms. for yourinfo .22s are rimfires either rifles of pistols.
It's the kind that you have to pull the lever down to put the next bullet in the chamber.
Their dad got them so I didn't have much to do with it.
