As I have demonstrated myself capable of learning one language, English, it stands to reason that I could learn another. Sadly, I am proving to be unable to master the most basic conversational Spanish. Any suggestions, the damn books I've been using are as useless as taint flavored popsicles.

sorry i cant help you to learn spanish but i did find it easy to learn chinese with the help of this site:

I took 8 classes in South America, and picked up enough to chat about most things. Grammatically, I wasn't good, but people knew what I was saying, so my recommendation is to go on a holiday to a spanish speaking country, and arrange a couple of weeks classes.
