There's a whole lot of argument going on here but as far as I can tell no one has mentioned exactly what these new laws mean.
You can read for yourself here:

Here is a nice summary of the implications of the law:

Hope all you US citizens enjoy the fact that you can face imprisonment if you cannot present proof of your citizenship when pulled over for speeding. Land of the Free indeed.

i spent fifteen years as an immigration attorney...i know what i am
talking about..and the next 13 as a workers's compensation attorney...almost 25 years across the desk and in the courtroom with
illegal alien issues and lives...i doubt there is anyone on this site who
knows more about the issue than myself...and this subject does not
belong in the general forum...where are the moderators ?

Originally posted by chancremechanicSo you are comparing being required to have identification when travelling between countries to having to carry it at all times or face arrest?
Basically, yes, but it seems becoming the European Union changed all that......but, yes, definitely travelling between countries
Originally posted by XanthosNZNobody in the US has to carry ID, so it is a moot point. If it comes down to national security, a simple Iris check would suffice, if they ever get the technology for the masses...
