Excellent attitude there chancre. What about say children who currently don't have any need for ID? As for a fine rather than imprisonment the problem is in the language of the proposed law. Any law enforcement officer who suspects that a person is an illegal alien must detain them.
Also anyone who assists an illegal alien (as little as giving them a ride in a car) could face up to 20 years in jail. Imagine what happens when an illegal aliens turns up at an emergency room bleeding from a gun shot wound. The doctors have to either treat them and risk jail or watch them die.
