Excellent attitude there chancre. What about say children who currently don't have any need for ID? As for a fine rather than imprisonment the problem is in the language of the proposed law. Any law enforcement officer who suspects that a person is an illegal alien must detain them.

Also anyone who as ...[text shortened]... rom a gun shot wound. The doctors have to either treat them and risk jail or watch them die.
Baloney! ERs have to treat ANYBODY with an emergency...even you should know that. That's fine...detain ALL suspected illegals- black, brown, and of course whites, until there are no more, then there will be no need to stop every other person in LA to check for citizenship. It will take years to clean this mess up, and securing the border and enforcing harsh fines on employers is the first step...legal immigration is fine...me mum came from Europe, but she quickly "Americanized", unlike these newcomers who want to form their own "mini-countries" in our large cities and even in suburbia...I say bullchit.....and the protestors even had the bolls to carry Mexican flags....what a crock of chit! The silent majority had better wake-up and take to the streets themselves before it's too late....

OK, Xanthos, let me ask you this? What do you propose the US do...open our borders so every poor third-worlder can come across the border and eventually make the US a third-world country itself?

What if the illegal alien foiund a way to New Zealand and came by the millions?...what would you honestly do? Before you insult me by calling me a bigot ...[text shortened]... am a bigot.....you've already proven that you are a liberal idiot....come......tell me.....😠
The current laws New Zealand has are perfectly adequate in this regard already.

Illegal immigrants that are found are be sent home unless they can demonstrate that they would not be safe in their home country.

As for the isolated communities thing that happens to a small extent here. It doesn't bother me in the slightest, I like being able to find interesting and exotic food and other items in my own city. What's so repugnant about the idea that America might have areas that aren't white as white can be?

key phrsae in your post: [Quote by you] "As for the isolated communities thing that happens to a small extent here." [Unqote]

I like "small" isolated cultural communities too, but when whole cities (Miami for instance) speak nothing but Spanish, it becomes a problem...you still didn't answer my question about the 5,000,000 Indonesians showing up on your doorstep...I don't think you have an answer...no liberal does....

Pose a realistic situation and I'll answer it. Remember, the entire of New Zealand has ~4 million people and Christchurch (where I am) ~400,000.

Why is an area speaking a non-English language a problem?

That is realistic. What you can't handle 5,000,000 Idonesians? Ok, let's do it per capita: What if NZ had 70,000 illegal Indonesians and Africans and an additional 28,000 arriving annully. These people are taking good blue-collar jobs such as carpentry, electrical, home-building, and construction jobs away from Kiwis, and some are also taking chitty jobs. They have your health care infrastructure almost bankrupt, and you have to pay more taxes to educate their children. They protest, waving their nation's flags down the avenues of Christchurch demanding amnesty. They are also bringing in drugs that are having an impact on NZland's youth. What do you prpose?

Because English is the language of the United States, both culturally and professionally....

They're taking our jobs? If only there was a law or something to prohibit companies from hiring illegal workers.

They're enrolling in our schools? If only there was some kind of law whereby international students pay a higher rate of fees meaning the government isn't paying for their education.

They're being treated in our hospitals? If only we were forward thinking like the US then we would just leave them to die in the waiting room. Silly us and our liberal views of basic human rights.

They're bringing in drugs? If only there was a way in which we could detect a decent proportion of drugs at the border and imprison those who are attempting to smuggle it into the country. I'll admit that drugs are becoming a problem here in New Zealand. Stopping immigration won't help, demand would outstrip supply and the increasing profit margins would convince NZ citizens to bring in drugs.

Around here we have days in which we celebrate the diverse makeup of our city and country. Immigrants, new and many generations ago, celebrate their culture and the freedoms they have here in New Zealand.

Also, how is English the cultural language of the US? It's only been spoken there for a few hundred years.

There is no sense debating you because you don't live in the U.S., so you just don't get it. English is the language of business, and if you want to get anywhere in life here, you'd better learn it....The questions you propose are the same ones I've been asking.....didn't i get it through your thick skull that nop one dies in the ER for want of $$...how old are you, about 12?....asta la vista.....

You just don't seem to understand that this thread is about the proposed new laws basically contradicting every possible right illegal aliens have. They no longer have the right to a lawyer, a speedy trial, benefit of the doubt (aka innocent until proven guilty) and various other things.

The laws in New Zealand are more permissive than the ones in the US and yet we don't need a new law to cope with illegal immigrants.

I agree that knowing English would be a great boon to anyone living in a primarily English speaking country. However to claim that people should immediately abandon their previous first language is ridiculous.

As for the ER point I made, I never mentioned money at all. The problem was that as the law would be written it is unclear whether a doctor treating an illegal immigrant would be considering 'assisting' them and thereby be subject to punishment. These are the kind of things that have to be tested in the courts. Until then can you guarantee that no illegal immigrant is going to be turned away because no one is willing to gamble by treating them?

As for my age, as is evident to anyone who compares our posts one of us is vastly more articulate and reasoned than the other. On the one hand I can structure a sentence, form reasoned arguments, correctly spell words, read posts and reply coherrantly to them. On the other we have you spouting rhetoric and horribly spelt nonsense. I leave determining our relative ages to the reader.

In terms of business, English is pretty much the language of the entire world these days. Plenty of other people manage to learn a second language to achieve this result. I'm sure you'd cope.

In terms of culture - well, that kind of begs the question, doesn't it? The whole reason the question of language has come up is because YOU said there are large parts of America where English is NOT the cultural language. Or does Miami not count because it doesn't give the answer you like?
