Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain."

I have not fear of the "fear machine".
I was speaking of being killed for a few bucks (or a pair of shoes) by a 10 years old kid, adicted to drugs. armed with a .22.
I don't know if it happens in other countries. But I can assure you it is common here.
These kids IMHO are incapable of any rehabilitation plan.
They will kill you without remorsements.
If a kid of this age threaten my life to rob me, be sure I'll shoot him to death.
I've never was confronted with such a sad circumstance, thanks god.
Only one time, when an adult put against my chest a 9 mm pistol. But this is another matter.
Drugs make it all. And povermess.
But how they get the money to get drugs in the first place?
It is a vicious circle.
I think we adults are the culprits. It is a thing of Perogrullo, but it claims for more comitment from we adults to the education of our childs.

I don't know why you've replied to my post. I agree with most of what you said here, I just didn't want to get into the "we're worse/better/same than before" because I don't really have enough information to compare it properly.

My post was more related to the effects of the mass media advent, which definitely have a strong role to play on society nowadays and youths (not only) are particularly susceptible to them.

As I recall my history it was pretty violent in the late 30s and early 40's as well!

We adults are ABSOLUTELY to blame, not just this generation, but every generation before us as well.
It is certainly not like this everywhere, but there is always, even in the richest countries of the world, the element of criminals.
I don't believe for one second these kids are incapable of rehabilitation. All you need to do is take them out of their element and stick them someplace where it is not acceptable to act that way and where they are held accountable for their actions. Hard work always helps also! 😉

LOL! I rather like that idea. Sounds like a natural for a National Geographic special.
