I simply CAN'T believe it..........All because of a $40 jay walking ticket that was issued over 3 years ago I know have to go turn myself into to the police, pay the ticket and plead guilty to a failure to appear. 😞

Well I guess it's a good thing I found out now instead of at the airport where they would of handcuffed me and dragged me away for my stupid offence of walking across a stupid street! 😠

And in my defense I really thought that the ticket was paid. 😳

A friend of mine got locked up for overstaying his visa about 10 years ago. He didn't know at the time, and neither did the u.s. immigration. It was only about 7 years after that incident(after the system had been computerised), when he briefly landed in LA airport to catch another connecting flight that they nabbed him.

Can you spell "Police State"?

That was my initail response. I had never heard of it outside of pure myth before. Bloody city cops! So I guess now I'm a threat to national security on the premise that I may just cross a US city street outside of the white lines?

Oh well, guess I'll go turn myself in tomorrow and get it over with.. :'(

Maybe I'll get a strip search

Many years ago my oldest sister had to pay a traffic ticket for going 10 miles over. She parked at the meter in front of the courthouse, putting in enough money to last an hour... However, because she hit the courthouse right before lunch, she was there a little over an hour. 1 hour and 5 minutes to be exact.

Imagine her surprize when she went to her car and saw a parking ticket on the windshield!? 😲

So she told the family, "I REFUSE to pay this $5.00 parking ticket! If the courthouse had the people on hand they should've had, I wouldn't have had to wait so long!"

And she ignored the ticket.

About 3 months later she received a summons to go to court for refusing to pay the ticket. She ignored that too! 😡

It wasn't until the police picked her up and put her in jail that we realized the seriousness of the whole matter. She went before the judge and he had charges of failure to appear in court along with the original $5.00 parking ticket.

So she told the judge, "I REFUSE to pay this $5.00 parking ticket! If the courthouse had the people on hand they should've had, I wouldn't have had to wait so long and I wouldn't have gotten the ticket!"

So the judge fined her $60.00 for her crimes, of which she had to pay before leaving the court.

But then she told the judge... (and I'm not making this up now), "I REFUSE to pay this fine or any other fine that you think I owe! If the courthouse had the people on hand they should've had, I wouldn't have had to wait so long, and I wouldn't have gotten the ticket!"

And so the judge put her in jail... for 60 days!

My sister says "she showed them!" She never paid a dime towards that $5.00 parking ticket. Sure messed up her life though.
True story.

$60 FINE! OH crap......My ticket was issued in another city. I was only there for the weekend. So when they pulled me over for a no seat belt ticket (😞)
They hauled me in the back seat on a warrent for my unpaid ticket. Then they gave me a cout date in the city I got the ticket in. Need I remind anyone I don't drive....hence the JAY WALKING ticket to begin with. So now I have 2 warrents. One for not paying the ticket and a failure to appear as well. Apparently there is no warrent out for the seat belt ticket so they can just shove it! And no, I wasn't driving, but I was very pregnant and the belt was cutting into my tummy. 😠 All this a block away from my house too.

NOW on top of all of this I just found out my doctor is not a Canadian citizen! Normally not anything of great interest to me but now he can't sign my papers as a guarantor. This is not the best day ever. I think I will gladly go turn myself in now and take a nice warm cell with maybe a cup of toilet water coffee please......Or maybe tomorrow. πŸ˜›

Here in America you will find that there is a law for them and a law for us and it is not the same law. Them would be those that run the government and the wealthy. Us would be the citizens that follow the law.

with pleasure!!!πŸ˜€ *thinking of female prison with a homer simpson outlook HHmmmmmm!!*πŸ˜‰

Coulnt you contest the belt ticket as you were heavily pregnant?? but then again courts are courts, they would just tell you that you shouldnt have been driving in that condition!πŸ˜• Back to the drawing board and those thoughts!! LOL!

On a quick note, thank yourself lucky, if a fine isnt paid in this country in which you have 2 weeks (£30 for eg) then it doubles to £60 and to be paid with 28 days. If you fail to do this then you get a summons, if this fails then your debt goes to a collection agency!! They can cahrge upto £150 to knock on your door!

I had a ticket which I didnt pay for 2 years final bill was £270, luckily I was seeing some bird who got a job in the courts and managed to get it squashed!!

So pick your partners wisely Mokko, it can work in your favour!πŸ˜‰

Doesn't the 'constitution' give you some inalienable right to walk where you want?
