Some recent server side changes I have made on uChess removed the limitation on the number of concurrent users supported. I am now in a position to integrate the live chess client into RHP (unrated games, just for fun).

Is there any interest in this?

Sure, I'd like it. Even just the ability to post open invites here for games on uchess would be great.

There would be no shared data between uChess and RHP - it would all be RHP accounts. uChess will continue to exist as a separate entity, with rated games.

The software used between the two would be very similar though (with just some minor re-branding.)

The only downside from my point of view is that there is more stuff to maintain and look after, which is why I am definitely putting this forward as a "nice to have", but not a core part of the site, at least initially.

Hi Russ,

I can't use uchess.com (or playchess.com) at work, presumably because of some sort of firewall. I guess any sort of live chess here would have the same limitation?

Would it be available to non-sub scum, and if so, would that count as one of the six games? Probably yes to the second if yes to the first, but thought I'd ask anyway.

It will not be very work friendly. Yes, there will be firewall issues.

The only reason i ever started playing here was because it was the only site i could get to through work security. That's no longer an issue for me as i no longer work there but you might have a situation were you end up losing a load of users because they can't access the site any more. It might prove to be more of a head ache than just the maintenance...

I would like this feature. But I would prefer an option to play rated games. Could RHP not keep a seperate rating list for blitz games, independent of the main rating list?

Also it would be nice if the games were recorded and stored somewhere so that they could be played over and analysed. For instance, if a couple of the top players played each other and one of them produced a masterpiece, it could be posted for everyone to enjoy.

Why not just add a timelimit of say 10 minutes? Or am I missing something
here? πŸ˜•
