See, this is what happens when people's minds get clouded with anger and hate.

I never said we should have empathy with the perpetrators of these atrocities in London. I said we should empathise with all VICTIMS of terror, whether they're white, yellow or brown, Western or Middle Eastern. Whether they are the VICTIMS of state sponsored terror or terrorist groups like Al Qaeda. Without empathy this circle of voilence will never end.

D
You don't help on the anger front be seemingly equating what we can all agree are terrorist acts with battles in an openly-stated conflict, where the people involved have been warned that a fight is coming (and advised to leave the area).

No-one appears to have advised the people affected in London that they were about to be bombed. Yes, I know civilians in Iraq have been killed, and that is to be regretted. They have not been specifically targeted, though.

It's hard to feel empathy for people who commit such acts, however justified their grievances.

I'd also like to apologise to Ragnorak for the harshness of my earlier posts. You didn't deserve that, and I'm sorry.

Ha an American calling me Ignorant. Hilarious. At leats i have some clue of what happens outside of America.

It's funny how Americans always use the same excuse when someone speaks out against what they have done. "Blah blah blah oh i guess you support Osama blah blah blah" The fact is that no, i dont at all, and neither does the rest of the world, but USA did support him... Marinate on that Billy Bob...

And yes, Osama and SADAM were BOTH TRAINED, FINANCIALY BACKED and SUPPORTED by the US of A. You cannot deny that because it is a cold hard fact.

So it seems that the USA is not only ignorant and a terrorist nation, but it is also hypocritical.

Shame on America for leading the world into a fictitious war and leading us into a dark dark time.

Ignore the stuff about weapons - it's an obvious slur, they'll be knives for food preparation if they exist at all.
You are very generous to the protesters.
What about the axes and catapults and stuff?
Some of the protesters certainly did have weapons, because they were filmed smashing car windows and stuff.

Hey, these are tough times for the free world, and I understand the feelings to set right what is not right in the world... But I for one, know that Ragnorak met no disrespect in his posts. So let's not quibble amongst ourselves - we need to unite in this dire time of need.
😉
I agree with your sentiments, but the original post is open to intepretation.

Yesterday, brought it all home to me. One of my work colleagues was on one of the trains bombed, but got off as the stop before as the train was moving too slowly - Lucky escape!

Secondly, I lost touch with a close friend for over 4 hours, my heart was "in my mouth". I live in the suburbs of London and work in London some of the week and yesterday was a stressful day.

I appreciate all the posts of support, but the "thought provoking" comments could have waited a day.

Hi everyone, you'll be pleased to know I'm alright and so are all my friends and colleagues. Thanks to all of you for your support and well wishes. It's funny actually, while I was on the underground this morning, I wasn't thinking 'Am I safe? Should I stay at home? What if there's another attack?' no, I was thinking 'I must get into work so I can log on to RHP and let everyone know I'm alive.'

The people I have talked to and the news reports I have seen just confirm to me what I already know to be true. That the people of London stayed calm and acted sensibly in the face of terror and that we all stick two fingers up to terrorists and will always persevere to maintain our way of life, no matter what they throw at us.

Well done...I was watching all night (coverage started about 8:30 here, and I watched till 5:30 this morning...), so I personally blame you for buggering up my school work today.

Good to know you got through OK.

What do the perpetrators of this monstrous crime expect us (the British people) to do?
Do they really think that they can terrorise us into submission?
Do they think that we will simply give in?
As Winston Churchill said in a somewhat different context, "What kind of people do they think we are? Is it possible they do not realise that we shall never cease to perservere against them...?"

😠

I havent read this whole thread (got this from the rec posts), but we dont need empathy for these savage b*****d's, this isnt a jihad or fighting for your rights, this is pure murder, with no regard for age, race, creed, sex or religion of their victims. The culprits should be rounded up and executed.
That would be murder you fool.
