Oh, right, you still think Bosse betrayed you. I think he really was just drunk.
I was indeed hungover and failed to check my orders correctly. The Doge also neglected to inform me that he was diverting some of his fleet, so he can't blame me entirely for the naval fiasco that ensued. I have made a few mistakes like that, most recently in Austria, where I would have crushed a Horde army had my foot joined my cavalry as I thought I had ordered it to. Instead a large Spanish army was destroyed.

I'm pretty sure I was at war with Arles by the time you joined; it was turn 3 at the latest.
I only missed out on turn 1.

Maybe l am just one of the lucky few!

You showed yourself to be both incompetent and deceitful. Those thinking of allying with you in other games should be aware of both those traits.

Whereas I have always striven to be competent and deceitful. That is, IF I am telling the truth now.

A massive battle in Novgorod last turn. Aquitaine loses about 440 GP worth of units to the Mongol's 340. The cream of German Knighthood is exterminated. Gromov's armies re-enter Novgorod in truimph. Despite facing overwhelming odds against numerous opponents for several turns, the Great Khan's empire still sprawls across Eastern Europe.

But the time for battlefield triumphs is at an end. Following this season, the Great Khan will turn power over to a constitutionally elected parliament and retire to his yurt in the country to write his memoirs. You may go through the pointless exercise of grinding down the Mongol armies, but you will never defeat the Great Khan.

I have achieved incompetence, two turns in a row, I'm afraid.

I have learned something new about the game, lads. If you set your cavalry to retreat level 1, they will not retreat if defending a garrison, or at least not Novgorod. The plan was for my 25 Crusader Knights to hit for two rounds and retreat somewhere, but they blithely stuck around and took it on the chin.

Not according to plan. Ahh well. This just means a second Liberator's Day Parade.

EDIT: Oh, good gosh. Why is Riga is STILL mine? Castile, do you have "accept gifts" blocked?

We've already defeated the Great Khan. That is why you said you were leaving.

Well in the overall scheme of things you are an absolute winner!

Nope, still accepting them as I was in Norway. I've no idea why that didn't work. Perhaps there's a programming bug in the Baltic...

If you have defeated me then why is the game still going? If the game is still going then I must not have been defeated.

I can't see the game, but you need to have at least one unit in or adjacent to the ceded province.
