Oh yes, your deliberately goading comment about Istria last turn spurred my heels and I jumped on heading back into Istria this turn.... Yessireee Bob. Sent every troop that I have.... yep.
Amazing! So did I!

Turn files are late tonight. This displeases the great Khan.

The War Doge is also annoyed as he purchased his ticket for the inaugural voyage of the HDS Marauder early and the 40 lira off the standard price expires at midnight. You know how the damn Merchants in this town are!

Speaking of heather, and getting back to the right timeframe (well, actually a bit earlier), here's some minnesang for the Germans among you:

Under der linden
an der heide,
dâ unser zweier bette was,
dâ mugt ihr vinden
schône beide
gebrochen bluomen unde gras.
vor dem walde in einem tal,
tandaradei,
schône sanc diu nahtegal.

Ich kam gegangen
...[text shortened]... wirt noch gelachet
inneclîche,
kumt iemen an daz selbe pfat.

(Walther von der Vogelweide)
there are six settings of this poem, including one by grieg (opus 48/4 1889).

Just got this e-mail from AgeofGames:

This is a note by the GM that turns will be delayed until Friday, 11 AM Pacific time. There was an issue earlier this week where files mailed were not being received properly for about 12 hours, and I want to ensure that anyone who sent their orders during this period is given enough time to resend them. I will send out an additional reminder to everyone who is missing orders, and if you
receive this, please resend your orders. Thanks for everyone's patience.

So how do you keep a Bavarian idiot in suspense??

Actually, this is good news for Roum.

I just realized last night at work that I hadn't made a proclamation this llast turn. So now I can go write one up and resend the turn file.

Fortune favors the airheaded...

I would say that you tell him to wait an see if the Venetians win the war, but even a Bavarian idiot knows that would never happen.

What's keeping me in suspense is the war against Denmark. Looks like the odds are stacked against the Danes, yet they keep holding on. Anyone for wagering some Diplomacy gold on the outcome? What odds?

We have the Norwegian horse, the Saxon horse & the Danish horse...looking at the forces arrayed there...2:1 the Danes will be unconquered in 5 turns time.

I think part of Denmark tenacity is that they are allied with the Teutons.

Do we want a 5 gold betting pool? Pick the number of turns they will last?

1-2 (turn 8-9)
3-4 (turn 10-11)
5-6 (turn 12-13)
7-8 (turn 14-15)
9-10 (turn 16-17)
11+ (turn 18+)

I will take 5-6 (turn 12-13) and put in the 5 gold on it.

Great, a proper betting system. Thanks!

I'll put 5 gold on 11+.
