I like that suggestion--even if it only serves the purpose of encouraging people submitting three shots.
For a little addition, why don't we total the 3 votes for the individual photos and have a "Photographer of the Round" as well as the "Photograph of the Round" as well as the individual colours of the round...
Its been in the back of my head that entrants who only submit 1 photo get rewarded over those who submit 3, so with the Photographer of the Round, then its an incentive to enter 3 photos rather than 1.

And, I don't understand how you totaled your points, Rag? What's your system?

It goes by this table,
1st - 10 pts -
2nd - 8 pts -
3rd - 6 pts -
4th - 5 pts -
5th - 4 pts -
6th - 3 pts -
7th - 2 pts -
8th - 1 pt -
and then the points go into a spreadsheet. Photographers/Photos on the left. Voters across the top. Its not very efficient,. I dunno if Noodles has optimised it in any way.

I'd really like to see some of the other rounds sooner, and I've just had a brainwave. Why not ask Russ to set up a vote for us to decide the choice and order of the new rounds? We could set it up so that everybody voted for their favourite 7 rounds. Then order the top 7 according to number of votes received, and then we can set up a new vote to chose th ...[text shortened]... . If we only advertise it in here, then we should have mostly interested parties voting.

Originally posted by RagnorakSure, why not? I'll go right back to the "Still Life" round and apply it there. 🙂
In fact, now that I type it, why don't we do that for every round? For example, I get 5, 5 and 8 points for my three photos, that means I get 18 points in the Photographer of the Round table.

I really like all the ideas suggested thus far. A photographer of the round will add something extra to the competition and will stimulate sending in three entries. We could even calculate this across several rounds, and see who gets most votes overall.
The three in one round with the colours makes for something completely different again. I also thought of the similarity of the extended exposure and moving rounds, so I wouldn't having 'moving' pushed back. And since it wouldn't slow us down, it would be great to be able to vote for the upcoming rounds. The only thing I wonder about is whether we'll have enough people voting to get seven clear winners out of a list. If there are too many topics, or too few voters, we might end up with a lot of ties, I think.

Good idea. Give us a few days.
Good point about the ties as well. I'll have to ponder that one, as I was kind of thinking that putting in loads and loads of options was the way to go. That would be impossible taken your point into account. Maybe we could have a vote per certain categories...Nature: (animals, mountains, lakes, waterfalls, etc.), abstract: (colours, etc), etc.

Originally posted by RagnorakThat sounds like a good idea - that would also solve the problem that the list might be unbalanced, if I understand your idea correctly. I understand it this way: We'd make a list of superordinate categories, and every superordinate category would occur once (possibly more than once if it's a very big category) in a batch of rounds. Then people would vote for their favourite subcategories for each superordinate category. Is that what you mean?

*edit* I do hope that the extra competitions don't put too much emphasis on the points, but I doubt that will happen.

Originally posted by RagnorakEven though I included colours in my example above, I think that colours should be excluded from the vote, and be our first new round seeing as its a new and interesting round.
