Copying takes forever, because the system is creating copies of all the files.

Moving is practically immediate because the file system just adjusts the wee database which stores the file locations. (Forget the exact name after 7 years out of the business)

CCleaner maybe does what you are looking for.

I install it just for the uninstall tool that works much better than 'Add/Remove Programs' of Windows.

Most experts recommend not using reg cleaners these days. But if you really want to, ccleaner is good. If you scan for issues in the registry and decide to "fix" what it finds, you would be well advised to agree to make a back up when it offers.
It's free, and easy to use.

Got a new problem with the computer. I was playing some music on MM and then blamo moniter says no signal. I messed with the cable and tried to restart the box but still no signal. what is a likely problem and how do I diagnose? Thanks

My desktop comp won't start. No beeps when I turn it on and the monitor has no signal. I tried the vid card to no avail. Does it appear to be the mobo or ram in your opinion? How could I test either one of those to isolate the problem? Chances of it being a power supply/ how to test a power supply?

Just buy a new PSU and stick it in. Even if it isn't the problem, it's a good idea to have a spare PSU lying around.

I got a new comp problem. My computer can find my wifi but windows will not connect to it. I did all the mac address stuff in the router but the two (comp+router) don't communicate. It works when I plug the ethernet cord in.
