Oh well. The PMs have stopped now. I wish the polite requests had been enough on their own but they weren't. Still, this thread has uncovered the fact that there are many people who seem to have had a similar experience with him.

Well, as long your "Strokes and Pokes" don't arrive by PM, they're fine by me. 😵

They have passed a law recently in Britain that if you receive unsolicited messages
by snail mail or electronic mail either to your computer or your phone
then you can sue the sender and they receive a fine if the standards office
deem that they sent to you without your permission.

Everything that Britain does Ireland generally follows suit.

The data protection act here has recently been beefed up.

Re the OP. His PMs aren't harmful. There's a handful of people here who need another hobby. Wouldn't they prefer a nice game of chess?

No one has suggested that they are "harmful". You've perhaps got the wrong end of the stick. As I have said, I had no complaint about the content of his PMs. I was simply curious as to whether polite requests for him to desist had or hadn't worked for other posters. It turns out that several people have been forced to use the ignore feature, although I have not.

Yes, but did you say pretty please with a cherry on top?

If I had to guess, and taking into consideration his forum persona, I would say that his intent in ignoring the polite request and sending more PMs anyway was him flexing a little bit of of his vanity mixed in with some passive aggression on his part (hence the pouting in the meantime). But he has desisted now, so it's moot really. Plenty of people much worse than him out there in cyberspace.

Shouldn't be necessary. I was just polite and to the point. Didn't work on its own. Starting this thread seemed to do the trick, although the thread was actually about whether others had had similar experiences, which it seems they have.

FMF is famous,
playing fast and loose,
private messages from every quarter,
But now he wants to be a recluse.

Requests for games and scripture,
will there be for him no release?
A stalker is now a permanent fixture,
call the Mod Police!!!!
