No, actually, I can.
American's just don't use this word by and large.
It is probably the most verboten word in the country.
Use of the word leads to immediate ostracization in most circles and outright violence in some.
We don't even use it when we say you can't use it. We say. you can't use the N word.
Now, that doesn't necessarily make u ...[text shortened]... *** burn better than petrol." Reminded me of stuff you might read in US history books.
Non-black Americans, by and large, never use the N-word. It would get you immediately suspended from your school, possibly fired from your job (or sent to some sensitivity training). Never would it be shouted in a ballpark.

You must live in an incredibly sheltered part of the American population. I know plenty of Americans, none of whom are black and all of whom use nigger frequently.

[b]For instance, I read something about the burning of 13 black children in England and the crowd chanting "N**** burn better than petrol." Reminded me ...[text shortened]... re did you read it. I have never, ever, ever heard of anything like this happening in the UK.
Here is an excellent article from Oxford about racisim in football.

It certainly is when you are dealing with neurotypicals who have the empathy and tolerance of a fridge. Luckily I don't meet many people like that.
Originally posted by Red NightJust as I thought, the 13 people (not all children) were in a house which burnt down. They were not, as your post suggested, burnt by a crowd. The arsonist was never found but the motive is unlikely to have been racism and more likely to have been revenge or anger over the family's actions.

The chanting which happened in the Millwall ground is hardly suprising since it's pretty nasty even now, let alone in the 80s. But Millwall football supporters are not even a mean cross section of football supporters, let alone the UK population as a whole.
Try and be less exagerating and more acurate if you're going to make statements about something under debate.

That reads to me as the crowd were responsible for the burning, or witnessed it and chanted while they watched. No mention of football, houses or arson.
Originally posted by cashthetrashI am not Xanthos. I defend him when he is called a racist, misogynist or homophobe because he isn't. That doesn't mean I never find his jokes offensive, and it also doesn't mean I would make the same kind of jokes myself. Have you ever read a post by me which could be considered offensive to disabled people? If so, please point it out to me.

As for my work, you probably wouldn't believe anything I say anyway, so I won't go there. You'd have to ask the children, their parents or my colleagues. I seldom work alone because part of my work is to teach the kindergarten teachers how to work with the children themselves, so if I'd tease or abuse the children I work with, it wouldn't go unnoticed, and I probably wouldn't have my job anymore.
Edit: I should add that I don't believe Xanthos would tease or abuse disabled children either. The fact that he makes provocative or offensive jokes on an internet forum doesn't say anything about how he acts in real life.
