Well - as in DL, the 'fog of war' is fantastic.
The only drawback is the map is a wee small but that can't be helped ... in this game (just to start things off again!) the fact that there was a mega-alliance utterly destroyed it - although I guess it gave some first-timers a chance to get familiar with everything.
While I'm never really bothered by th ...[text shortened]... appear to be going by my insane forays in AoC 😀
Can't wait for the next shogun game.
The lag of fog of war in AOC is annoying as l had gotten used to it!
You are doing very well in AoC!
How exhausting - drinking and nattering away in Japanese for the past 4 hours - leave the country for 6 months and forget half of what I knew!
My conversation ... companion was quite patient, though ... 20 ... single ... drop dead gorgeous ... sigh. 🙁
AoC is looking to heat up - I always have great plans for these games which I never seem to be able to put into effect - being exposed in this game makes things a little more difficult.
The DL game I'm in - every turn I thank my lucky stars I henched to Rob early! A bit different from this one in that even as a junior partner I'm on the front lines and despite screwing up a few orders feel like I've contributed a bit.

Like players who convert to bots when things aren't going their way? 😵
Of course, you would NEVER resign a game you are losing, would you?
Game 2550509

I played to win. It's not my fault that a large number of people decided to quit beforehand, limiting my possibilities of growth. The same happened in the North were a successful invasion from me was answered by Mogami turning into a bot when I took his capital. This led to a Gold Rush instead of a proper invasion which would translate into a much greater portion of his territories being kept in my possession.
I never played any of these games, so I joined a powerful ally in the beginning so I could grow and learn. Uesugi happened to be my neighbour. Considering what I expected to happen when I signed up and what did happen, I have to say my performance was a great success and my choice of allies helped it. If my opponents weren't so quick in abandoning ship maybe I would have been able to succeed in being the third party.

Pal: That said, my intentions for this game were never to win, that would be only be a great bonus (deserved for what I've done, obviously)
As mention earlier, Uesugi at the beginning of the game was no more powerful than anybody else.
I'm under no obligation to keep playing a hopeless game (and paying money for the privilege of doing so even if it is a nominal amount). I PM'ed the GM and gave my reasons for resigning as I didn't want to be penalized by not being allowed to play in another game (I was in 2 other AGE games). The GM accepted my reasons and did not replace me with another player, obviously accepting that the position was hopeless as if the position is not a replacement player is provided (I'm a replacement player in Galactic Warlords).
You left yourself out of the main theater and assured yourself that you couldn't win by staying allied with the Uesugi. Trying to blame others for this is lame. If you want more "spice" in the game, declare war on them. Otherwise, quit your complaining about other people resigning a game when you resign games all the time (as do we all).
My PM to the GM said this:
Dear GM -
I would like to resign from game sh5 where I am realm 1 (Ryuzoji). 9 realms, including the two largest, are presently at war with myself and two other allied realms but we have only a quarter of their production and even less in troops and ships. One of their realms has more than all of us combined. Thus, our position is hopeless and would prefer not to play on in a clearly lost cause.
I note that in Galactic Warlords, the Federation started a war with me allied with the two most powerful realms, but 6 turns later resigned after losing their main fleet and having their lines broken and their capital about to be taken. Objectively their position was far better than mine here (they still had allies more powerful than mine, forces only a bit inferior and close to 200 GPV), but no replacement player was named and no one complained that I know of.
Originally posted by no1marauderMy primary objective wasn't winning, since that would have been almost impossible, but I did play to win.

My only chance was allying myself with royalty and Bosse was close and willing. You're kidding yourself if you think I made a pre-game decision to join him, he was just close and happened to be my first contact. It was a good choice, all things considered. I benefited greatly from my alliance and so did he.
I see no advantage or interest in committing suicide now by betraying him (or before). How would that help my chances? I'd rather try to gain more territory from my enemies.
Originally posted by PalynkaI don't care what you do; he's probably going to be in a position to declare on his own soon enough. Or perhaps him and the Merchant Monk will turn on some of their weaker vassals. It's of little interest either way.

I only point out that it is not my obligation to provide you with a longer game by continuing to play when I have no winning chances.
