The possibility of being burned alive at the stake is a deterrant for paedophilic crimes like these. They should show the burning live on television too. There should be a competition where the lucky winner gets to light the fire.

You know, there's this South African sociopath, Antonie Wessels, quite a charming character actually, dry wit, who murdered a few people (ate one man's thigh) en route to Pretoria, his mission being to murder his step-father, whose sexual abuse of young Antonie is the obvious cause of the trouble. The problem, though, as the sympathetic psychiatrist explained, is that no matter how understandable the cause, sociopathy cannot be cured, because the person is so badly and permanently damaged. Maybe science could change that some day, I hope so, but until then such people do need to be separated from everyone else.

I sympathise with people whose desires lead them to perform abhorrent acts. Try the book "Killing for Company" some time. Unfortunately it doesn't really answer any questions, just opens your eyes to more horror than you thought existed...

these had anything but short term effects. Possibly even damaging, as it
makes us sort of numb, or perhaps familiar to the horror.

The number of children you have and time between birth and onset of PND is different in every case. Mental health issues cannot be compared and given time limits. PND is a complex one and can manifest itself in many ways. A woman with this illness does not always realise she has it, as with many mental health problems.

Only if they wanted to do it. Some families would probably want to do something to feel like they have got justice, but obviously not all of them would.
