As long as there remains no concrete boundary to what is and is not acceptible, the testing of how far you can go is a mandatory part of existing in the social arena we have here. Eitehr the law is laid down secret police style, or it is left to society to police itself, in which case the boundaries are relative and can only be ascertained by pushing against them.

Or by asking what that the weather was like in Toronto, would i be banned for giving away Darvlay's home town details?
