As far as I understood it, nobody wanted to go public before it is proven (as far as that's possible) that someone is a che@er. If the proof is good enough to ban someone, it should also be good enough to go public. I am especially thinking of those who are playing that person, I think they have a right to know why their opponent suddenly disappeared.

Russ made the call to not go public with user names. I'll go read what he'd said and see if I can share some of his reasoning.

P-

DT and I talked about it, and I am sure Russ read it all... but never talked about it.

DT said about the same thing he's already said in this thread on that subject.

The truth is the "cheat police" fire blanks, I use a chess engine for every move I make but because it isn't the latest version of Fritz or Shredder I get away with it

OK , that's great Phlabby . But I think that prior post would have bought a lot of patience on the part of those of us concerned about this if it would have come earlier , and come unsolicited . We've been kind of in the dark on this . From our side it's seemed like nothing's been done . Even if you guys think non disclosure of specific case details is the best way to go , dropping an occasional line to let us know this is proactively being dealt with would head a lot of this off .

What about some raw data ? Like , "Since the vote on the issue , as of this date , X many allegations have come forth , y many people have been busted , z many people have been removed from the site . 'This many' allegations are baseless and have been dismissed , the balance are currently under review ." This let's cheaters know they'll be found , and let's us know something's going to be done if we feel there's a strong case against someone . It also gives the non-disclosure policies more crediblity .

If you're joking , I think this would be the time to clarify that .

Well, in that case...

Your disgust is understandable...

But hey, it's a step in the right direction.

Any better ideas? Or have you already given up?

So are you really considering leaving over this? If so, I will go ahead and confirm my subscription renewal right now. Do you have any volunteers who would be willing to take over the Cunnymealious Clan? I would love to do it, if no one does. I got some great ideas for what I can do with it when you're gone. 😉

I know what you wrote there but I happened to notice your new title and wondered if your plans had changed...

No, for the reasons I gave there. But I may re-evaluate after the next season of the one day and three day clan league end.

You put forth the ideas and asked for discussion. You got a discussion, and you got a lot of people agreeing with you, or partly agreeing with you. Maybe something will come out of it without doing any more than that, but I think putting up a vote for a vote was an attempt to raise the chances that something will actually happen.

Yes a vote will happen. But a vote already happened, so I think somewhere in there is why he feels disgusted.

I am in no position to threaten anyone . I am not a mod or part of the management of this site . But if he's on the level it is a clear violation of TOS , and cheating is something taken very seriously by those who are in a position to do something about it . We had a youngster who admitted that his father had made some moves for him during games . This was suicide for him as to being on this site . The fact that he never read the TOS agreement , and the cheating was "discovered" only by his confession garnered him little mercy .

I would consider it more of a friendly warning than a threat .
